The difference between his managerial experience and mine amounts to 42 hours.

I'm happy with this appointment because the last thing he did was stop a club in disarray from sliding further. He worked well with disaffected players and got the team scoring again and working together. Boxes ticked for immediate needs at Villa.
Were Spurs in disarray? They were in the top 6. They must set their disarray bar fairly low. They need to look at the Villa and up their game as far as disarray is concerned. Fairly underwhelmed by the appointment but things had got so bad with Lambert that anything will be an improvement. If he brings some semblance of organisation and attacking intent it should be enough to keep us up. Finding a amanager in March when you are in the relegation zone is akin to picking up a Valentine Card on the morning of the 14th. Everything left has been already considered and discarded by others. Beggars cant be choosers
They probably did can AVB too early but he had that string of horrendous results. Was it 6-0 and 5-0 to City and Liverpool I think?
He'd overseen them to their highest points finish in the Prem the year before.
But yeah, they'd been on a poor run and were in 7th. I think there was a lot of press talk (allegedly source from Tim) that AVB had lost the dressing room. Once that happens it's game over I guess.

I guess for a club with an expectation of top 4 football, who spent over 100 million that summer, then you could go as far as calling it disarray. Sherwood in fairness to him did have an instant impact. He also brought Adebayor back in the fold, as Soldado wasn't doing it and it paid off. And he gave Kane his first start and run in the side too. Whilst he's no tactical whizz, he's got more of brain than some people probably will give him credit for.

But like any manager, whether they've had 28 games or 1000 at the highest level. He starts here on 0.

£100m worth of talent that needed pulling together, difficult to do when you don't have that much time AND it wasn't you who signed them.

My concern is that all the shit that Lambert signed will be back from their loans in the summer, they will need shifting so I hope Sherwood is good at wheeling and dealing. Adds to the inexperienced pot methinks. Let's see how he goes though eh?

Is not a case that he cut his cloth accordingly? He did well with Spurs. They sold a world class player, didn't replace him, spunked money with a scatter gun approach and finished par for the course.

Not sure Spurs' fans opinions should count for much. Sherwood's record there was very good. He did perform awfully in certain games though.

“We are determined to build a football operation with a long-term vision and a commitment to youth development. We strongly believe Tim has the qualities to get the best out of our current squad and help us build and develop for the future.”[/quote]

Translation = "won't want much transfer money".

This seems to be a pre-requisite of any appointment sadly, we're just fucking broke.

I keep thinking of what Koeman has done while losing their best players and hope this turns out the same way.  Until we're bought out by an oil baron, which seems to be the only way to have any success now.

Come on the guy is hardly a novice
Whilst I accept his managerial career is short so far he was part of the coaching staff that helped spurs vlimb off the bottom of tge table so at least he'll have some experience of what is needed.
There aee so many on here not even prepared to hive him a chance which imo is shocking.
After all it can't be any woree than what we have had to witness recently and if we do go down it won't really be his fault.
Let's give hjm a chance too succeed at least and give him our fu support at least for the ndxt 13 games

Has the club not learned anything from that stupid four year Lambert contract? Why not give him the rest of the season and then think about a long term deal?

Fucking idiots.
I agree, but his representatives would not have gone for that.  I would think a 3 year contract is about the minimum anyone would take.

Congratulations, you fucking idiots, you've added another embarrassing entry to your list of shit appointments.

We really have given up.

Bit over the top
Nope, absolutely accurate.

Out of the frying pan, into a fucking cremation oven.

Pretty unimpressed but I'll give him a chance unless he appoints a complete scumbag as assistant.

Welcome and good luck, Tim the Enchanter.

The club are excited to have secured the services of one of English football's most highly sought after managers...Really?
One of the best examples of rhetoric I've ever encountered in connection with AVFC.

I would imagine some of those returning will get practically given away. Some of them are shockingly poor and I would imagine Sherwood will work that out pretty quickly.
If they have to sit in the stiffs with their contracts winding down, then that will happen. Thankfully we're not talking insane wages like some of O Neill's stiffs.

People keep referring to these blogs and how bad tacticly he is... yet he still finished 6th. That's pretty decent going and fairly godly if you're an apparent moron too.

If you read those blogs, you see that there are reasons why he sometimes did well and reasons why he sometimes didn't. His win percentage is pretty good, but his loss percentage is nearly as bad as Christain Gross's was, because he just plays thoughtlessly wide-open 4-4-2s. Do that with this Villa side and we'll get ripped apart, lacking as we do the quality of Spurs' players.
since this appears to have been on the cards for a while (he was seen with Fox a couple of times) let's hope he's sussed that out.
