Interview with Sherwood from 20018.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2008/sep/26/1

Good points: He seems to have a sense of humour.  He doesn't like Glenn Hoddle.

Bad points:  He doesn't seem to be very patient (though that could be a good thing this season).  Poor business sense (that website he's plugging isn't online anymore).  He reads The Star and The Express.

He is no where near the finished article or even one of those up and coming non English style managers that seem to be the future.
In comparison to Lambert he is a god send so we hope for the best which is a lot better than we go again.
No idea why we needed to give him a 31/2 year contract though.

People keep referring to these blogs and how bad tacticly he is... yet he still finished 6th. That's pretty decent going and fairly godly if you're an apparent moron too.

Someone link to the Lambert appointment thread when we were all over the moon.

Ridiculous reaction from the majority of you. Hasn't even set foot in Bodymoor yet.

Yeh they didn't exactly plummet down the table. Mind you he did have £100m worth of new players and some emerging kid called Kane to help him. The talent pool is a little shallower at B6 at the moment.

Congratulations, you fucking idiots, you've added another embarrassing entry to your list of shit appointments.

We really have given up.

Uneasy smile.

Very much an unknown quantity. He only managed for 28 games at Spurs, but won at least 50% of them.
But he's young, hungry and ambitious. He played attacking football at Spurs, is well known to work well with and develop youth players (might see Grealish back now).

He can be a bit of a gobshite and no real experience over a long term...I think he'll do ok. Not my first choice but not really disappointed either..and pleased that the club acted so quickly...

Welcome Tim....

Weren't they doing well when ABV was sacked and he had a squad worth a few £100M? Fucking lunacy.

Well, it is made easier if you started in sixth, and only managed for 20 odd league games.

And did so well you promptly got sacked.

If you read those blogs, you see that there are reasons why he sometimes did well and reasons why he sometimes didn't. His win percentage is pretty good, but his loss percentage is nearly as bad as Christain Gross's was, because he just plays thoughtlessly wide-open 4-4-2s. Do that with this Villa side and we'll get ripped apart, lacking as we do the quality of Spurs' players.

As it from 2018 does he mention whether kept us up or not? ;¬)

Bit over the top
Nope, absolutely accurate.

Out of the frying pan, into a fucking cremation oven.
I agree.  I wonder how much thought went into this appointment? IMO barely any.  Did they twats draw his name out of a hat?

I noted this from Tom Fox:

Quote
And Fox said: “Randy and I are really pleased that Tim has decided to join the club. Tim had a fantastic career at Tottenham, not only in his brief spell as first-team manager but, just as importantly, in the role he played in developing young talent.

“We are determined to build a football operation with a long-term vision and a commitment to youth development. We strongly believe Tim has the qualities to get the best out of our current squad and help us build and develop for the future.”

Translation = "won't want much transfer money".

He's 46 which by PL standards is not young. 28 games at Spurs was all he was allowed. I wonder how many he'll get at Villa?

I said this morning I wasnt keen on Sherwood

But he is here now and we need to get behind him.

Im getting tickets for Stoke on the back of hoping our fortunes will now improve

That's the spirit! We've got a 13 game season plus the FA Cup.

We have to overtake 1 team ahead of us and stay in front of the 2 teams behind.

Has the club not learned anything from that stupid four year Lambert contract? Why not give him the rest of the season and then think about a long term deal?

Fucking idiots.

Sherwood is set to make his first appointment as early as Monday with long time friend Paul Lambert expected to be installed as first team coach.
