A bit sad and bewildered by half the thread calling him all manner of negative things. He's got his badges so is not just some thick fucker from the wrong side of the Watford gap. He has an impressive record of developing youth cf. bringing through the hottest property in English football right now and if his motivational powers are good enough to get Adebayor looking consistently good are owt to go by, who knows how much he may be able to coax from Benteke, N'Zog and our other talented under-performers?

I think he will galvanize us, its about time we had a bit of brazen arrogance about the place, we've been far too nice for years. So, welcome Tim. Fook the begrudgers - unless you start acting the twat and cant turn us around.

If you're upset by what we're saying you should see the Spurs fans say about him. Or what he says about his own players.

Why are you getting your knickers in a twist because some Spurs fans have written some nasty blogs about him?

I doubt Sherwood was anybody's first choice, but what's done is done. He kept Spurs in 6th, which I think is about right for them, despite unusual selections and kamikaze tactics. His personality and the unknown quantity smacks of 1998 and Gregory all over again.

Well, little else to do but get behind him. You need four or five wins in the league Tim to see us safe and you're also 360 minutes away from going down as the greatest Villa manager in 30 odd years. Please deliver on both counts.

Lots of discontent with Sherwood's appointment but is it better, worse or on a par with McLeish?

Of the realistic candidates available, reckon he is as good as any. Will certainly kick backsides, one of his biggest challenges will be getting the best out of Gabby, which Lambert failed miserably at. Good news is that he has a week to work with the players before the Stoke game. Good luck Tim.

Everything he said was true though.

I think you will find that others at Spurs will be surprised to find hat these were his achievements.

Still, lets hope he can rise to his own estimation of himself here.

Massively underwhelmed by the appointment and staggered by the length of the contract.  Yet again the judgement of those running the club has got to be called into question.

All that said, there's no choice but to get behind him now.  Wouldn't be surprised if another appointment on the football side is made soon.

Oh dear, that is not what we wanted is it children? The AVST meeting should be entertaining especially if we lose to Leicester in the cup.

A depressing appointment, and not just to the end of the season as well.

If we lose in FA Cup it will have absolutely sod all to do with Sherwood's appointment less than 24 hours before the game.

If we win don't be surprised to hear Sherwood taking the credit.

If we win I couldn't care what he says!

I dont think the payers we have are bad, but they are lacking in confidence and need a bit more "mongrel", for want of a better word.

If he can come in and galvanise them then it could just work.

They should have got shot of Lambert weeks ago, and as such, leaving it this late has meant whichever way we turned the next appointment would be a massive gamble.

Good luck Sherwood, make us proud again.

He can not be worse than Lambert, but signing an unexperienced manager up to 2018 c'est de la folie.

Agreed, eamonn

I know things are bad but seems to be a lot of people taking an extreme negative view.

If he does keep us up then puts us mid table next season, will some of the outraged reactions stop?

Or is he going to be public enemy number 1 from the start to the end?

Surely it is best now to judge him for us? He is ours now, we can't change that, and lets face it is better than watching Lambert flail about continuously.

Believe me I'll be more than happy to eat humble pie if he does that but I'm not holding my breath, or even ordering humble pie from Tesco's any time soon

Would never have been my choice but at this stage of the season who else was available? Lerner is to blame for not appointing Pulis when the opportunity arose. It is better to have someone who knows the premiership than a foreigner who would take time to settle in.And that is something we don't have.Good luck Tim and prove us all wrong.Come on you Lions

My mate tweeted to me about Sherwood:

"If he keeps you up will be a hero if you go down will be Lambert's fault"

I guess that's true.

Better. He hadn't been relegated 2 months before we appointed him. Lets hope Tim doesnt put that right this season

Why are you getting your knickers in a twist because some Spurs fans have written some nasty blogs about him?

Because they made some criticisms of him which were quite alarming? 'Knickers in a twist'? You make it sound like it's got nothing to do with him.

Well as many others, he wouldn't have been my first choice. However, beggars can't be choosers. I see a similarity to when Gregory arrived, and results wise that worked out well that season. We need galvanising massively, and he may just have the characteristics to do that. I'm sure he ll kick a few arses, and hopefully get a reaction from the players.
In any event, he HAS to be an improvement on Lambert. The three year deal is surprising, but he's here now, I will give him all my support, and hopefully he will keep us up
