A gamble that sums up where we currently are as a club. I'm underwhelmed to say the least, but I'm clinging to the straw that I was equally underwhelmed when John Gregory arrived.

I think the reaction is harsh! We all wanted Lambert out we needed a man in quickly and there isn't a great deal out there

He is driven determined and he bring confidence to the team

I think it's about time the fans got behind the team now and stopped moaning

Up the villa

I think the fans are behind the team, its the management and its decision making that's the problem

Congratulations, you fucking idiots, you've added another embarrassing entry to your list of shit appointments.

We really have given up.

And on the plus side, at least this hasn't dragged on for yonks. Downside, I wonder if they even interviewed anyone else.

"The club are excited to have secured the services of one of English football's most highly sought after managers."

Apart from Spurs,QPR and WBA who gave him a swerve.

You missed out Crystal Palace.

Well, blimey. Not my first choice by any stretch of the imagination, but I hope he can get us out of the shit and I'm not really that bothered how he does it as long as it involves scoring some goals.

What a fucking joke. Obnoxious man with next to no experience. The club had a chance to make a statement of intent - it appears they have, in as much as 'Championship here we come and don't expect us back any time soon'. Hope he proves me wrong. Not happy

Mmmm. It's never dull supporting Villa - apart from watching some of the games. I hope it's a successful appointment.

Well, let's just hope that he has a shackle-removing effect. That might be the one thing he's got going for him - in the short term at least.

Realistic appointment, and half of you were mentioning Klinsmann and Benitez....get real.

Lerner's appointments....Houllier/ McAllister, McLeish, Lambert, Sherwood.....seems about right.

I can't help but chuckle too myself that after months of wanting Lambert he finally goes and three days later we are already seeing discontent with his successor.

We will find what he is made of very quickly.

A half-decent coaching team behind him and it might work. Might. The lack of imagination in the appointment is par for the course for the board, though.
