"The club are excited to have secured the services of one of English football's most highly sought after managers."

Apart from Spurs,QPR and WBA who gave him a swerve.

Let's give the guy a chance and pull together. Just as important is his back room staff and the whole structure for the first team.

Well, I guess we have got to get behind him now.

If nothing else he will kick ass. Lets hope its enough to keep us up and build from there

One thing he is one fortunate bloke to have this opportunity. Lets hope he grasps it

Looks like Lerner and Foxy have agreed to flip that coin to determine our future. I really hope my instincts about this are wrong

I think the reaction is harsh! We all wanted Lambert out we needed a man in quickly and there isn't a great deal out there

He is driven determined and he bring confidence to the team

I think it's about time the fans got behind the team now and stopped moaning

Up the villa

As someone said on another thread, the key now is who gets brought in as his backroom staff.

Les Ferdinand anyone, wholly shit, were doomed

If ever the phrase 'be careful what you wish for' needed a reference, this is it.

Much as all those years ago with JG, he wouldn't have been my choice and as others have said, very underwhelmed.

However, as happened then, all that will be forgotten when he brings his team out onto the pitch. Welcome to the Villa Tim. Make yourself a legend, you'll never ever have a better opportunity than this *

* The F.A. Cup would be nice. **
** A goal would be a start.

Wouldn't be my choice but has got to be given a chance. Important decisions to be made on backroom staff, need experience and nous.

While he wouldn't have anywhere near my first choice, I still prefer him being our manager than Lambert.

I am reserving comment till his coaching team is confirmed.

Fair play to the club for not pissing around.

More interesting than Lambert for sure.
