There were a couple of times where Gil won a throw-in and just took it instantly, and it was like watching another team. Usually - and for years - wherever the throw-in is won we'd wait for the full-back to lumber forward, and by then everyone is in place and marked and the full-back takes thirty seconds to throw the ball straight to the opposition. It's unbelievably stupid.

For me it's a little clue as to the off-the-field approach. Lambert doesn't strike me as the analytical type, but studying the stats and probabilities can boost performance, even if it's only by a few percent. And that extra percent might be crucial. There's a science to football now, and while Lambert might dress like a schoolboy on the touchline, I doubt if he's applying himself to his studies.
Whilst I'm no fan of Cleverley; at best you could say he's been underwhelming; some of the criticism of him is way over the top. Our limitations existed long before he joined us.Personally, I'd keep my criticism for the likes of Benteke who seems unwilling to put in a shift .
Very nice. My favourite was 'Quality without results is pointless. Results without quality is boring.'
