At least Drogba's been pretty bad, so you know he'll score.

If we played this well against most sides we'd be nowhere the relegation zone. We've pushed Chelsea back and had a go. Clearly there is massive quality issues in the final third and we continue to rely on Hutton and Cissokho to offer width which remains bewildering. Especially Cissokho who offers nothing once he gets the ball.

Defoe wouldn't score any for us because we don't create chances. It's not so much the strikers as the way we play. Not quite enough urgency and intent for me.

We've had a smattering of half-chances and quite a few balls into the area/the edge of the area. Of course, nobody would be guaranteed goals, and I'd rather we had a more physical and tall forward than Defoe, but not buying a forward at all when we haven't scored since Chamberlain resigned is utter insanity.

Defoe is 39 and cost £30 million. Or something else like that Lerner will never fund.

Push Gil further up and he'll score.

With a touch of luck, Sinclair will hopefully alleviate this over-reliance on the full-backs. Gil and Hutton look like they could form a fair old threat down the right (although I feel we might be missing s trick by not playing Gil in what Lambert likes to call the 'No.10' position).

As it stands a point for Burnley tomorrow and we are in the bottom 3. Worst goals for and worst GD in the league.

Defoe made the goal for himself.
Hull should be 2 up against Man City.
Leicester look strong against Palace.

It will be interesting to see the table tonight.

Push Gil further up and he'll score.

That may be true, but push him further up and nobody will get the ball to him, as the only player getting the ball to the front is Gil.

Well, maybe he would. I do like Defoe but I really think it's our overly patient build up. Our midfielders don't do enough going forwards. Our strikers are always isolated and feeding off scratchy little half chances on the edge of the box.

Eh? He's 32 and cost around £2m with Altidore going to Toronto

And I don't for one minute believe we didn't go for Defoe because he wouldn't fit in with our style of play. We didn't go for him because we wouldn't pay his wages. Which is why we find ourselves in this mess in the first place.

That's a net gain, I'd say.

Bottom three might ginger up Lerner and Fox about removing Lambert
