I just want us to have a go. There will be no disgrace in losing if we give them a game, that is all I ask and should be a prerequisite of any game we play. You never know we might just get a result which breeds confidence.

This, though I fear it will be more of the same. Not playing Cleverley would be a positive start.

I wonder how many goals it will take before the fans turn on Lambert at VP? If we lose 0-2 will everyone just shrug and walk off, or what if its 0-4?

Just now and again Lambert pulls something out of the bag. Could it be today?

I'm going for a 1-1 draw, and I'd be very happy with that as well.

I wouldn't say he pulls something out of the bag.  His scatter-gun approach on tactics gets a lucky hit every now and then.

Yeah that's what I meant. He just occasionally gets lucky just like every other shit manager out there. Let's hope it's today.

It's a law of averages thing I guess. If you play often enough, you eventually score a goal

Well we'd better score today because going 7 leagues games without a goal is totally unnaceptable for a club the size of Aston Villa. Then again we say things like that all the time at Villa under Lerner and Lambert and we still get humiliated by them.

Can't remember feeling so down before setting off for VP. Expecting a sound beating and very much doubt that Lambert will disappoint in that.

Post 4.50pm the salient points will be-

Mourinho will waltz off with an easy 3 points having taken the p*ss.
Lambert will produce a carbon copy of his previously bewildering and unapologetic post game statements.
Lambert will get 8hrs kip Sunday evening and continue our development on the training (?) ground Monday morning.
The silence from Aston Villa FC will be deafening.
We will all be that bit closer to our graves.

How low have things got? I have a season ticket in the Holte End (and have been a season ticket holder since they first introduced them to the standing Holte End in the 70s) but woke up this morning and for the first time couldn't be bothered to drive the 3 hours each way to watch us fail to score and get stuffed again. I would always travel in hope, if not expectation, but Mr Lambert has robbed me of even this level of anticipation.

I hope I'm proved wrong this afternoon and that we at least have a go and score a goal - even if we get stuffed - but somehow I feel we will pas the ball sideways, fail to put Chelsea under any presuure and still get stuffed :-\

I wasn't expecting to see a pic of Stephen A Smith on this thread. Who's next? Bomani Jones or Mike Wilbon?

He's written the game off and is focusing on hull on Tuesday night.
