All you have to do in the Cup is win every tie...

You can draw a couple.

You can draw games, but you have to win the tie.

Good to see two goals. Pity about the clean sheet. That said, I was expecting us to get a spanking due to the "Magic of the CupTM" so it is a good afternoon all round.

Anyway, every time I hear the name Bournemouth I have to watch the following video (it may have been given an airing on the pre-match thread, apologies if so).

Precisely. Just like my choice of vocabulary!

Great stuff. Two shots on target and two goals.

What's up with Benteke? Didn't look like he could be arsed.

Pretty solid performance.
I thought Bournemouth offered more in the first half, but second half we 'managed' them pretty easily.
Two lovely goals, Okore and Clark were very, very good, with Clark being my man of the match.

What the bloody hell is wrong with a Benteke though? He really is looking a shadow of his usual self.

Gil's goal was bloody brilliant. At last a player to excite!

Into the next round, that's all that matters!

Great video. That was the season I started going down villa park. Our resurgence through the mid 70s to early 80s was down to me finishing a quarter of pineapple rock by half time each match. I didn't have the teeth left after 82...the rest was inevitable.

There are not many clubs who have had a period of a little over 10 years as we did from 72 to 82. Third division to 1st division champions and champions of europe, plus a couple of league cups.

In fact, you could stretch that to 1987, and make it 15 years of incredible rollercoaster stuff.

Gil has started his Villa career pretty welll, hasn't he? That goal today was of a very different level to the season average.

Agree Paulie. It rarely gets highlighted but it was a fabulous 10 year rise. My first game was Villa 5 Torquay 1 in 1972 and I was at Rotterdam a decade later.

Just back in record time - largely due to the King Edward School car park being (literally) full of Bournemouth supporters' cars so I had a head start on them from the Holte. First time I've seen the 'car park full' sign up at 2.00, but fortunately I've got a season ticket/numbered space so didn't get turned away. Great to hear before kick off that Delph has signed. Pretty poor first half and Bournemouth moved the ball round well and quickly. Another prize winner at half time! Much better second half with 2 quality goals, but I thought 'here we go again' when they got one back in ET, and Westwood really should have put it beyond any doubt at the end. But a good cup tie and we're in the hat for Monday. Outstanding players for me - Gil looks a real find and Clark played a captain's innings.

Have to say for the first time Benteke concerned me. There was a ball through to Weimann in the second half and he should have slipped Benteke in but pushed it wide. To say Benteke was half-arsed in retrieving the situation would be an over-statement. He simply wasn't interested. I've put his earlier frustrations down to being isolated & not getting much service, but today I saw something different. Worrying

I was there for that Bournemouth game.   That one and the Swindon one stick in most people's minds.
