"No chance of us being relegated" according to Delph on Football Focus. If that's not complacency then I don't know what is. Also gives other teams their team talk for them. Sometimes it's best to say nothing.

I saw that, didn't know whether to admire his confidence or shit myself because he doesn't know we are in a relegation scrap.

Yeah, there's a million positive or negative ways to interpret that

It drew a sharp intake of breath from me, but to be fair, he didn't sound complacent, he sounded like a man who simply wasn't going to let it happen.

Anyway I think the 'team talk' scenario only really operates when you are talking about a single opponent e.g. 'Will Villa go out of the cup to Leicester tomorrow? ' - 'no chance' - that is doing their team talk, but in terms of relegation, there just isn't that level of direct disrespect that has that kind of impact.

First time I have heard him speak he doesnt come across as captian material. The same with Gabby but on a higher level.

When Delph signed his new deal he talked about the future at B6 and he was impressed with what he was told. Did that include there'll be a new manager soon  ;)

I thought he was good and stepped up when we needed him yesterday. He doesn't score shit goals does he?

Kissed the badge, got involved in the celebrations and clearly loves it here.

What a man.

I don't know who was named MOTM but it would have been Delph for me. Whether it's Sherwood, the change of tactics or being given the armband, he's really responded.

Delph was named man of the match. Well deserved.

Interesting that he was moved further forward especially when Sanchez came on. We need that in a 433

He's got the weapons to do that - a bit like Dembele

Delph is more than capable of getting 10 goals a season. He needs to believe it and play in a system that allows him to get into goal scoring positions. We started to see a bit of that yesterday.

Fabian Delph has been named in the England squad.

Roy Hodgson has picked the midfielder in his 24-man squad for their European Championship qualifier against Lithuania next Friday - and the trip to Italy the following Tuesday.

The Three Lions face Lithuania on Friday March 27, kick-off 7.45pm at Wembley Stadium before taking on Italy on Tuesday March 31 at the Juventus Stadium, kick-off 8.45pm.

Delph is back involved after missing November's games through injury.

England's meeting with their Group E rivals Lithuania is their first at senior level, though they have played four times at U21s level.

Italy and England have a much richer history against one another.

Only last summer the Azzurri beat Hodgson's men in the opening game of the World Cup in Manaus, and the game in Turin will be the 26th meeting between the nations - Italy edging the contests with 10 victories to England's eight.

The England squad

Goalkeepers

Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Manchester City)

Defenders

Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders

Ross Barkley (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Forwards

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)

Well done Fabien, thoroughly deserved.  We have a potential legend in the making here.

Do you think?  I don't think he has played that well since signing a contract, certainly not as well as I think he can play.

Yes agreed but his form dipped as the entire team under Lambert collapsed. Especially the final few games. Since Sherwood, and certainly the last 3 games he's been outstanding.
