Deloitte Football Money League 2015

We just miss out on the top 20 (see page 4), but the fact we generate over £100 million despite years of battling relegation shows the massive potential this club has, with the right owner we would be matching, if not ahead of Everton and Newcastle's revenue whose is only a fraction higher than ours despite completely contrasting fortunes on the pitch in recent years.

Yes they are, but converted to pounds our revenue was around £112 million. Everton's around £120 million and Newcastle's around £130 million.

Imagine telling someone 20 years ago that we'd have 133m revenue a year. And that Man City would have 414m and Chelsea 389m. You'd have been dragged off to the funny farm.

I assume that's an estimate then as we haven't published our 13/14 results yet have we?

With all the wage cut backs, surely the bottom line will be much more healthy and give room to buy some more players even this month to safeguard that income.

You'd think so, but we seem to be oblivious to the threat.

Seeing the likes of Man City right up there when they were behind us about six years ago shows us how quickly perceptions and finances can change in modern football.  I am amazed to see how relatively high up we are despite the madness of the past four seasons. Get the investment in and we would fly up those tables, I am sure of that.

Never mind the owner, the right manager could see us overtake Everton and Newcastle in terms of turnover.

The right owner could quadruple it.

These figure are always behind as they go on the last published accounts.

Have our fortunes been that contrasting with Newcastle's? When those tables of all the horrendous records Lambert has were posted a couple of weeks back, the only other manager with a similarly dreadful record across the board was Pardew.

Apart from taking them close to CL qualification one season.

It's hardly through our own efforts though as most of the rise is down to increases in PL TV rights.

I hope those figures tempt a potential buyer.
