I think Bournemouth have got to be really fancying this one. Current performances and Lambert's track record leaves me thinking we'll get knocked out here too. 0-2 Bournemouth but we'll play excellent.

Bournemouth lost to an appalling Leeds 0-1 last night by way of reference .
We should win this . I believe we will.

Can we club together and buy him a Thesaurus?

Just read through the first ten pages.  Surprising the amount of people that don't post on here anymore.  Some may have changed their usernames I suppose.

I think that when accessing old threads its the current user names that are displayed not those in use at the time of posting

I'm sure it's been quoted here already, but that stat in the Mirror that Bournemouth have scored more league goals in Birmingham these season than we have (thanks to their 8-0 win at Blues) is kind of astonishing.

I don't think this is the time to start spending money on Greek Centre Backs.

He's a defensive midfielder - have you not played Championship Manager lately? ;-)

I was going to post routine win for Bournemouth to add to the litany of defeats by lower league clubs, but I watched some of their game against Leeds and think this could be a good game for us. They do score a lot of goals but in the process commit a lot of men in the box, so leaving themselves open to the counter-attack. If Gabby can be arsed to put a shift in for this one we may get a result. Or maybe I'm just as deluded as Lambert

3-2 Villa, an open game, which will suit us.

I recall Doncaster under DOL was outrage , now it's seems more acceptable to take these defeats due to conditioning I guess . Hardly anyone batted an eyelid re Millwall for example (other than CNZ lol) .

Strange, I can remember absolute meltdown on here.
Was there ? Possibly on the back of Bradford I guess . This was a bad week

Millwall Post-Match thread

Jesus, was Millwall really 2 years ago tomorrow? what an absolutely shit evening - the only positive I took from such an awful result was that it would spell the beginning of the end for that shit manager we had at the time...

The one thing about the Milwall thread is that some of the comments are exactly what people are still saying today.

Alan Hutton is no stranger to Wembley and is eager to return with Villa in 2015.

The Villa right-back lifted the League Cup with Tottenham in 2008 after seeing off London rivals Chelsea in the first final at the new national stadium.

Hutton missed out due to injury the following year as Spurs returned in the final of the same competition but lost on penalties to Manchester United.

Paul Lambert's men welcome Championship Bournemouth to B6 on Sunday to battle it out for a place in round five and a take step closer to the May showpiece event.

They are hoping to make their first appearance at Wembley since 2010 and Hutton insists they are focused on overcoming this weekend's opponents.

He said: "Everyone loves the days out and the Cup games.

"We want to be in there to try and win a trophy.

"We will be going out to give a good performance.

"I was at Tottenham when we won the Carling Cup and the following year we got to the final but got beat on penalties.

"When we won the League Cup, it was in my first year down at Spurs and Wembley was one of my first games. I was injured for the final in 2009.

"It was a great experience to play against Chelsea at Wembley, though.

"We want to go as far as we can this year.

"We know Bournemouth will be a tough game and we won't take it lightly for sure.

"We've been watching what they are all about on the videos this week.

"We know it will be hard but if everybody performs the way we know they can, we know we will give them a game."

Eddie Howe's Bournemouth arrive in the second city as league leaders and top scorers in the Championship.

But Hutton says Villa, who saw off the Cherries' league counterparts Blackpool in the last round, have nothing to fear and is anticipating an entertaining game.

He added: "We want to go far no matter who we come across.

"We know it is going to be a tough game but it will be different from the Blackpool game.

"They sat in and tried to hit us on the break.

"This weekend will be a lot different because they are flying and scoring a lot of goals.

"I think they will come out and try and give us a game.

"If anything, they are the ones who will have to come out and beat us.

"I don't think we have anything to prove or they are a bigger team than us.

"We will go out to give our all and hopefully it is a good game of football."
