What did Gil do?

Lovely bit of skill to go past someone. He moves to create space. Good eye for a pass. Looks excellent

I fear we'll be caught on the break trying for an equaliser

What did Gil do?

He beat a man with a stepover. I'm not even sure I've seen anyone do that in a Villa shirt before.

He's also been running around a lot into space. Complicated stuff, obviously.

Sasa Curcic was quite good at stepovers. His debut vs Derby and a home match v Leeds come to mind.......

Massively holding this group of players back. Imagine some of the football we could play if someone came in and gave them the confidence, freedom and formation to. Load of shit first half again which gave them the slow start and momentum to take the game. We should be going for ****** like Liverpool from the off, they are not any good.

He's also passed it forward first time vertically whenever he gets the chance which has made a bi difference

This is the balance we need in midfield.  Sanchez is quite capable of doing the vast majority of the midfield defensive work to allow Delph and Gil to move off them.  Westwood played well today and I like them but this looks like a much better combination at home even in this brief spell.
