it normally starts with an 'I'm a bigger fan than yow' type of debate. I remember a fight on a train back from Old Trafford years ago when two blokes compared away game records and when one of them conceded that he hadn't made it to a midweek game at Wimbledon because his son had fell ill, he was scoffed at for being a lightweight. It all kicked off...and I think they were brothers.

It happened at the McLeish Bolton game. My lad and I were sat in the Upper Trinity and joined in the chants - several Holy Trinitarians took exception ("disgrace", "throw the out" etc) and we had a stand-off with three blokes on the stairway until other fans joined the chanting - the lad was all for lighting into them but I couldn't bring myself to fight with another Villa fan. It put my son off going. We're all getting desperate.

Let's face it, there are some fans who could start an argument in an empty room.*

*Awaiting the response, no there isn't.

We have a huge away support, tensions are obviously high and with any big group you get a few morons.

I'd like to think people wouldn't label us all like that.

I saw scuffles at the top of the away end. Didn't find out what it was about though.  Probably our Leaders.

See I wonder why people have to be described as morons?

Probably because they are. Definition of moron is a stupid or foolish person.

I saw two grown men have a brouhaha over whether Alan Wright was too short in the Holte End in 1996.

What was Alan Wright doing in the Holte End in 1996 anyway?

Standing on a crate, presumably.

Getting pissed, fighting amongst fellow supporters, frightening young children... I'd call that behaviour moronic. Perhaps its not the nicest term.

No need - it was all-seater by then.

Indeed it was, you get the idea though.
