According to the Beeb we had 1 shot on target against the side bottom of the league.

For a shot to be "on target", how close does it have to be to the goal. There as a shot blocked and one saved within a minute at one point.

Generally blocked outside the 6yard box isn't counted as on target by most stats sites.

So, a shot that's on target but blocked by a defender outside the 6 yard box is not on target but a shot that's saved by the keeper outside the 6 yard box (eg when closing down an attacker during a one-on-one) would be a shot on target ?

yep, it's an inexact definition but they'll mark it as blocked, on target or off target and the 3 are considered exclusive.  Blocked shots are only a 'stat' for defenders; keepers are judged by saves which don't have the same exclusivity (shots off target can be recorded as saves).

The one on target was the Benteke one that took a massive deflection and bobbled to the keeper.

A disappointing performance and result. Hope there is more creativity to come in final third within the next round of matches.

We have to get in to the final third first.

Gabby's performance today was probably the worst I've ever seen from him. Truly abysmal.

He was the villa player running into the defenders and giving the ball away.

As opposed to the villa players just giving the ball away.

He didn't seem any keener on Houllier or McLeish in that case.

I don't know why, I can't think of many other managers that would keep starting him.

even Villa bitch (for those who know her off twitter) was chucked out.

Villa bitch? Is this our own version of Sticky Vicky?
That's her own self titled name
Even has it on the back of her villa shirt

Classy lady.

I have to disagree with that, he was just as bad last week!!  I do agree however that his inclusion in the side defies belief, complete lack of interest allied to a lack of a football brain, however he doesn't pick the team and if the person doing so was in any way capable of doing his job he wouldn't be playing.  The fact that he is captain sums up where we are and probably where we are going!

Today was a dreadful experience, the football was bad enough but when our fans start fighting each other it really does highlight how bad things are.

I am convinced that we will go down this time and until Lerner goes nothing will improve, we have only had backwards momentum now for five seasons and without wholesale changes the outcome is inevitable.

She had a season ticket near us a couple of years ago and seemed constantly pissed and was bloody annoying.
