Nice to see Baker back on the bench. That side is much as expected and interesting to see how Cole does. No Grealish on the bench is surprising.

What formation do we think that is?  If I was in charge it'd be a 442 diamond with Cole in the hole, and Sanchez sitting.

Formation could be interesting am hoping it's not Cole and Cleverley stuck too wide

Would like to see a 4 2 3 1

Interesting. At least he's being philosophical about it. Vlaar tweeted 'I am a patient'

Was there a clause in Cleverley's loan deal that he must play when available? It seems like Lambert rather change tactics to accommodate him than to drop him. I guess we'll have to see once Delph's available again.

Happy with that side, would also like to know where Jacky is though.

I'm reading it as a 4-4-2 with a tight diamond - Cole at the tip and Sanchez anchoring, and the fullbacks playing as wingers.

Lambo opts for experience. Will it work?

I would sooner see Bacuna in the side than Cleverley.

Most of our subs would make their starting lineup. They look a championship side on paper. Our looks a solid 4231. Cole is crucial today.

Sincerely hope Gabby is strictly on the left and not getting in Benteke's way. Cleverley surely running out of chances at this stage. Would like to see Bacuna in early if Gabby and Cleverley continue to struggle.

Although I'm no fan of CNZ, I'd have been tempted to start him today with the instructions to run at Konchesky at every opportunity. Of course, the plan also works using Jack but Lambert would never try anything that radical.

Big onus on Cole today, as that's a very workmanlike side. I would imagine it'll be something like a diamond formation in midfield with the fullbacks, as per normal, providing all the width.

It's not going to be pretty. We should control midfield though with Sanchez and Westwood.
