Happy Birthday Giddy. Been going down Villa since 1965. For me the best and most exciting right back down Villa Park in the last 50 years or so.

The best attacking full back I have seen in my 50 years going down the Villa, such an exciting player, when he posts on facebook its obvious Villa is the club in his heart, Happy Birthday John.

I was only a kid when he left, 9 I think, but was a lot more gutted over him going than I was Gray. I had three favourite players as a youngster, Little, Gidman and Linton.

Would say he is the best right back i have ever seen in a Villa shirt in over 50 years of following us.He was no mug defending,but it was his attacking skills that most people liked him for.I was heartbroken when Saunders decided to sell him,but to be fair to Saunders ,the guy he replaced him with Kenny Swain did'nt do to bad

Very true about the lack of England caps. Phil Neal wasn't half the player Giddy was but then he played for Liverpool.

He was at the 57/77/82 celebration in 2007. When Ron Saunders was mentioned he walked off stage. It was good to see he was as arsey as ever.
