Sussex County League Division Two side Seaford Town, the only team in the top 10 tiers of English football to score fewer goals than Aston Villa, have challenged the Premier League outfit to a match to decide the most boring team in the country. (The Sun - subscription required)

No thanks. Banana skin.

Calling it a banana skin is a bit negative. I prefer the phrase 'Potential banana skin'. Sounds slightly more upbeat.

It could be even more dull:

Sunderland account for 33% of all the 0-0 draws in the Premier League this season. They have had three more 0-0s this season than the whole of the Scottish Premier League

If we want to kill off the idea of a 39th game played abroad once and for all send Villa and Sunderland to be the guinea pigs.

Quite bad on the discipline front too. Last season we recorded the highest (and our highest ever) number of yellow cards in the Premiership.

Another red card or two this season and we'll beat the record for that as well.

Worst ever manager.
We've got the worst goal difference in the league too.

The one new record I wouldn't mind seeing is Lambert being the first manager to get the sack at half time next week.

its crazy, we've been so shit for so long 5-0 doesn't even hurt that bad. I remember 5-0 at Blackburn (the spitting game), 5-1 vs Man City when David White scored all theirs. These games came along once or twice a season. we have them 4-5 times a year under Lambert.

Worst EVER league run without a goal.

I keep reading stuff like that today, but surely the 6 straight defeats without scoring earlier in the season was worse?

We scored in the sixth one, 1-2 v Spurs. So he only equalled the record that time. Now he's broken it. In the same season. Incredible.
