Burnley vs Aston Villa Pre-Match Thread
« on: November 26, 2014, 10:27:59 AM »
Saturday 3pm.

Burnley winning their last two is probably the best thing that could have happened. Surely Burnley don't win three matches in a row?

Surprisingly comfortable 2-0 win. Richardson and Weimann to score.

If we lose this one, then surely, surely the manager has got to go?

Hopefully we'll put in a performance for once. This lot are shite, and score almost as infrequently as we do. We need to show what we can do sometime soon, it might as well be this game.

Burnley will us as one of their most winnable games  so I can see them going at us right from the word go. I am pretty sure Villa are capable of catching them on the break and scoring at least once. Sadly that will be it, Lambert will probably think that's enough and we will defend defend defend until the inevitable equalizer/winner. Could be a draw, very possibly a defeat but one things for sure I cant see us winning. Again.

I am pretty certain that the last time we won at Turf Moor was on September 12th 1936 when we beat them 2-1 with Hodgson and Broome the scorers.
Since then we have played them twenty eight times at Turf Moor and not won one, is this our bogey side or what?
Has I believe in horses for courses best we can hope for is a scoreless draw.

We've won a couple of cup games against them at Villa Park plus I believe we beat them 5-2 at home in their first PL season, Downing scored a couple I think. We drew the away game with a Heskey goal. A lot of snow that day if I remember rightly.

My memory of that game is that we were utterly mediocre apart from a ten minute spell early in the second half when we rattled in three goals. And didn't really have to get out of first gear for the rest of the match.

0-0. Two teams who don't score many. Two teams who wont want to lose it. Awful on the eye and undoubtedly last on MOTD.

Given our average of  one shot on target per game, it seems unlikely we can win so a 0-0 draw for me.

Burnley have scored more goals than us, but there again so has every other team from the Prem right down to the Conference South (although, to be fair, teams in the Conference South have played about 5 more games than us). Until Benteke comes back we won't score a fat lot more either. They'll have a real go at us, which Lambert will accommodate for them by playing two banks of 5 within a yard of the 18-yard line and hope for a lucky break. 1-1

nail, head. Okore, Hutton and Agbonlahor were our best players in the last game so one of them to go off injured or pick up a red card.

Really really really want a win here but I just can't imagine anything other than a turgid 0-0 or 1-1. Come on boys let's put a performance in.
