I give Gabby plenty of stick, but he's played well so far tonight. And it's because this is what he can do that I give him the stick.

Agree with every word.

Indeed, spot on.
Thirded.  He makes Dalian Atkinson look like Mr Dependable.

I think the best thing we can do now, having got the lead in the game, is to sit back as deep as possible, let Southampton have almost complete possession of the ball and repeatedly hoof the ball aimlessly up the field on the rare occasions we do manage to get one of our players on it.

I honestly can't see any flaw in that.

No point playing crosses like that. Keeper fodder...unless we're hoping for another error.

Gabby must have some new bit of skirt watching him tonight or something, he seems to be putting in one of his quarterly shifts.

But I'm wet now.

Hmmm

Indeed. Though I don't think Lambert does him any favours at all (aside from repeatedly playing him). Gabby's only job should be running at people. That's it. Run, run some more and always face the opposition goal. It should be written in stone.

Why is Gabby back defending? Leave him on the half way line and let him break. Lambert can't even spot when something works.
