I noticed that Cleverly has started pointing, obviously learning from Westwood

(Old School Football Fan) ;-)

Some witty chap with a strong black country accent that sits behind me in P6 calls them the Pointer Sisters.

Don't think so, Nick, just calling 'em as I see 'em!

I don't rate him at all as a player . Hope he is sent back up the M6 in Jan.

I think he could do a job in the right set up. But this is Lamberts Aston Villa we are talking about. I don't think the problem is Cleverly.
I have said before I don't actually know what Lambert is trying to achieve with the system he plays.

I would argue that  Westwood and Cleverley are very decent players but they are being hampered by our lack of confidence and the tactics employed by the manager. To the faithful who like to see a crunching tackle or players to emulate the heroic efforts of Des Bremner, Frank Carrodus, Ian Taylor and the like, they are surely going to fall short.

I saw cleverly out wide left several times v spurs yet he had to check back in and head square / back as he has no left foot.
Am I missing something or is this basic school stuff ! Or maybe a £2m a year manager should be abmonished of any blame .

I think the point is he is being played out of position in a system that does not suit him or the rest of them.
Who would play a very right footed player left midfield? oh yeh Lambert.

Exactly.  Both Westwood and Cleverley could do a decent job if used correctly. Whether both should be played together is another issue and has been debated elsewhere.

High energy pressing, tackling and tracking runs are strengths of neither. It is not surprising that they have adopted the Mark Kinsella pointing method action.

I don't think anybody should be abmonished, by the way. It sound painful and is probably illegal, even between consenting adults.

I think the Saints will tear us a new arse-hole that will go nicely with the other 4 or 5 arse-holes we already have.

The spine of the team missing, 0-4

Has anyone contemplated we could be bottom 3 by the time we kick off Monday ! Then we could actually go bottom by 5pm next Saturday.
This club needs to wake up and fast.
