League Cup semi-final against Bolton in '04 pissed me off, only being 12 at the time.  The 2010 Final is an obvious one as well.

And most games in the 2009 season run in, especially the run where we were knocked out of UEFA and FA Cups and lose to Chelsea in about a week

Losing 2-1 at the Hawthorns in 1984 after being 1-0 up with 3 minutes to go - Carl Valentine FFS, what made it worse was that I was in the Brummie Road End too.

03-03-03. Horrible, poisonous experience in every possible way.

FA Cup QF away at 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' in 92. Referee in their pocket again.

FA Cup QF away at Oldham in 90. GT mark1  brain fade game.

Losing 3-0 in the San Siro in 1990. Cheating bastards.

Losing away at Norwich in the run in in March 93. Played them off the park and lost.

Losing at home to Oldham in final home game the same season - not that we're favourites to win the League by then of course, far from it, but it just confirmed that we wouldn't be winning it (I'd been in complete denial) and were now handing Sky the victory they so desperately wanted. The Theatre of fecking Dreams was born!!  I remember going straight home (no pub) and out for a walk after this match - I felt devastated.

And finally.......  FA Cup Final 2000 - felt worse than all of the above combined.

Are you sure that first one at albion was 2-1? I have a recollection of us leading 1-0 with not long to go and they scored 3 to win 3-1.

It was 3-1. I was there with my Dad. We were all over them and they somehow scored 3 in the last 6 minutes. Plus ca change...

Yes that's right, my mistake. It was 3-1.

Tony Morley was playing for them and I remember him getting a right hard time when he came down our end to take a corner.

6 Nov 2010 Fulham 1-1 Villa

Equaliser scored in 90+5

Worse than any defeat I've ever witnessed

I was at that game and Albrighton was a muppet giving away a free kick at the death. But their similarly late equaliser when JPA missed two penalties around 2004 was far worse. And neither would get in my top ten gut wrenchers - am too pained to list them here. This is no conversation for a Monday - needs to be a boozy Friday night topic....

Also, the non event at Wembley 2000

That never happened.

Spartak Moscow, Arsenal FA Cup quarter-final, Oldham FA Cup quarter-final, Oldham in 89-90, Inter the season after, Charlton 86-87, any time The Shit beat us, 3-1 against the Albion in circa 84, Leicester in the League Cup semis,Villa 1 Ipswich 2, Bradford, At Madrid, Tranzonspor, Man u 3-2 (x2) and 2-3, could go on...

The season we were relegated to division three.  We played Sheffield United up there and the half time score was 0-0, we were playing quite well and I thought we were on for an away point which would have been precious.  Final score...United 5 Villa 0!  I came home realising that even though it was November, we'd had it, we were doomed to relegation and so it proved.

I have 2 sons. One had his first game in that 1-1 at Fulham, the other the 8-0 at Chelsea. Neither has seen us win.

Was that the 2-5 loss at Bolton in leg 1 ? I was at that game and had to be in London 9am the next day to do a 30 minute presentation In front of about 150 people. I felt like veering my car off the motorway on way home

Man City at home in 1990. Even went 1up. Gave the title to Liverpool that day.

That winner from macheda was a hard one to take after playing so well and throwing away a 2-0 lead against the shit was sickening. The list could go on after the last few seasons.

Man City grabbing a late equalizer at home in the FA Cup, we were live on the BBC, Baros scored from one of our only decent moves of the night and even then we couldn't see it out and conceded the typical 90th minute goal - Micah Richards was it? Naturally we got tonked in the replay when Darius Vassell was in that spell of scoring everytime he played against us.

Citeh absolutely murdered us that day. I was embarrassed we were winning

Then Micah Richards swore on TV

For me the most gut renching were trabzonspor, Man United league cup final (you just knew afterwards we were never going to be good enough under O'Neill) and Blackburn 3-0 away to pretty much confirm we wouldn't win the league.
