Merry Christmas Everton. They won't have an easier game all season...until the return fixture that is. One very brief spell apart, we've been dreadful. Lambert is clueless. It's tortuous watching this for yet another season.

Really poor first half. A typical Villa performance so far of sitting way too deep, no possession, hardly any attacks, sloppy throw-ins, control and total domination from our opponents.
summed up perfectly

Everton have controlled this half effortlessly. Committed in the 50/50's; crisp, purposeful passing; not letting us anywhere near the ball; their defence has been well organised and determined.

Villa had a couple of good passages of forward play but it was too slow, allowing Everton time to get men back in defence, win the ball and break away again. It's been a bad performance so far from back to front, Hutton being the only one to come out of that half with any credit.

Too easy for Everton at moment they look more comfortable on the ball.We have a few decent moments but missing Delph ,Zog not been involved enough and Benteke looks like a player who has been out 6 months.

I'm watching a different game to you lot. It hasn't been fantastic, but I'm not ready to jump off a bridge just yet. I think we'll get a draw.

Cleverley apparently doing well, alongside hutton?

But missing Delph and benteke v rusty

Four goals this season is the obvious concern. We suspected it at the start of the season and if Benteke takes a while to get back in form we could well be in trouble

I'm not watching but I've learnt to assume we're playing at least 20% Better than the match thread suggests
