Take a flask

Not sure what to make of this. On the one hand it's encouraging we were looking around for the best talent, on the other the bloke was worrying about his travel costs the whole time! Either way you've got to love Doug haven't you?

Interesting that we did try and bring him back. A pity really, he would do Delph and Westwood the world of good playing alongside them.

His contract would have cost £12 million.

Yeah, a lot of money - the same as what we sold him for. A pity all the same.

So Everton have put him on something like £80k a week? If so that's very surprising, probably unlikely, but if so would finally put paid to the constant talk of them having no money.

I would assume that will include a hefty signing on fee as he was on a free and to make up for the drop in wages he was on at Citeh.

3 year contract. Nobody was going to match that and rightly so.
Fair play to Gareth, he got a blinding deal there.

Its exactly the type of player we should be signing, if we had a single iota of ambition that is.

A 33 year old on massive (for us) wages? Isn't that the kind of thing that got us in the shit in the first place?

if he plays for three years at the standard he played last year, he will have been worth it.  I'm not sure I would have taken the gamble.
