4 goals scored in 8 games.

8 nil in the last three

Worried again

Have you forgotten who we've been playing?
4 goals scored in 8 games.

8 nil in the last three

Worried again

What did people realistically expect put of these three games? We were never gonna repeat our form against the top sides of last season

I'll be really concerned though if we don't start creating chances against other sides, starting with Everton

I was hoping for 4 points. We've now equalled our points tally against the same teams played last year so the good start is meaningless

He was stood around doing nothing whatsoever for their first goal, most disappointing.

I can live with a defeat against these.  But te fact is you either have got creativity or you haven't and we simply haven't.  These tactics were adopted all last season with limited success.  I do hope he has a plan b in mind and soon.

Team that costs half a billion quid or so vs one that costed about 30m.

Guess the outcome.

Those teams do still lose. What's most disappointing is the lack of shots and by extension lack of goals. I'd have taken losing all three with a lot more fight and adventure. The GD might still have been -8, but the goals F might have been a bit more positive. What losing so "easily" in all three just puts added pressure on us in games we will hope to do a lot better in. So far in those games we've done ok, but it only takes one bad result in one of those games to set us back significantly.

Totally depressing. I can only applaud those who go week in and week out because they really don't get much back for their effort or hard spent cash. I thought Sky were virtually willing City to score and they got what they wanted. 4-5 teams with super cash and the rest of us are just teams they have to play and beat. Totally totally fed up with it all. I could go on about our inadequacies, our pathetic home record and style of play but it still doesn't help when you have to face a team made up of 1-2 that cost more than your whole team.

Fuck of City! Take your ill-gotten gold and piss off to a new league and take Chelsea with you. Bunch of cheating bastards. They've completely ruined this league. 13 clubs which are a shower of shite in comparison to the top four, with 3 clubs that are better but not won't get close to winning it. Between the title chasers and the lot below it's a whole different ball game. Worlds a-fucking-part.

Anyway...all that aside. When we showed some attacking intent and tried to get forward we looked okay. When we sit 10 men back on the edge of our own box we're just delaying the inevitable.
My main pet peeve of today. We bring on Benteke then completely give up trying to get forward. Great to see him. A few little classy touches, but we offered absolutely chuff all for him.

And I'm sorry. Can of worms about to be opened but Lambert is just as tactically inept as always. Nothing changes in many regards. We've got enough quality that we won't go down or particularly struggle. But we're not going to progress under him. Not a fucking hope.
All hail Keanes beard.

That is all.

I wish we'd get this bloody sale done with so we can actually start to properly look forward toward progression, likely with a more tactically astute manager and more funds to buy some quality.

This league is getting to a point that you have to applaud the fans for all but 5-6 of the clubs who turn up every week to watch their side making up the numbers. The Premier League is a pile of shite to watch unless your club happens to be run by a cash spunking gazillionaire.

we simply must get something at Everton now. Losing 4 straight would be terrible.

Delph played ok in 2nd half, N'Zogbia looked quite exciting in the two times he was in full flow but we don't have people making off the ball runs going forward, its all about the frigging counterattack. No plan B. In every game it feels like once we concede it will be game over.

Unfortunately yes. It's all a bit clueless. Our defence looks more well drilled than last season and has slowly progressed over 3 seasons under Lambert. But we're still about as solid as a Brucie Boner to be honest. I don't think we'll have too many clean sheets over the season.
The midfield 3 we're tidy enough when we at least pushed forward but Lambert persistently has failed to get a midfield and attack that gels together in anything other than quick counter attacks, and we've not been as effective as a counter attacking unit as we were in the tail end of Lambo's debut season. We're not actually that effective at it any more because we're not scoring nearly enough goals.

There'll be a bottom 5-6 shitter than us and almost certainly the bottom 3 will be nowhere near us (I hope), but I'm still expecting a season largely made up of drudgery and piss poor, clueless football.

At the end of the day, we have been beaten by 3 sides that are so far ahead of us it is frightening, they all played well against us and it went on ability.

Still happy with our points return given the opposition and that more crucially we have done it without our captain and main goal threat....Gabby not playing today also hurt any slim chance we had.

Looking forward to a two week break to get the boys fit and I'm off to Everton!!
