Aston Villa vs Arsenal Pre-Match Thread
« on: September 15, 2014, 10:51:41 PM »
Can Lambert's Invincibles see off another challenger?

Our first 3 O'Clock KO of the season at home and it'd be nice to get another good result. This might be the first time in a long while I'll be expecting a result against one of the league's top teams.

1-1, Delph and Welbeck to score.

Ah, I meant at Villa Park, my brain decided to not word it that way. Changed it now.

When was the last time we played Arsenal at 3pm on a Saturday at VP? In some bizarre way I wonder if the normal kick off time will have a positive effect as we've won a few 3pm games at the Emirates in recent years.

Think this might be a game where we get a reality check, Arsenal will get chances on the counter attack and our defence could struggle in one v ones against likes of Alexis and Ramsey so 1-3 Arsenal.

Sadly, we don't have a cat in hells chance on Saturday.  We certainly wont get away with hanging on for grim death like we did at Liverpool, as Arsenal are a major bogey side at villa park and our way of playing will suit them.

Hope I'm wrong, but I can see arsenal beating us fairly convincingly.

The league table and our recent beating of Liverpool at Anfield would suggest otherwise. Or maybe you are playing the old reverse psychology card...

If we can't fill the ground, with a Saturday 3pm kick off, 2nd in the league against Arsenal we never will.

They're shit at defending set pieces so that will be our main opportunity i believe. If only the beast was playing.

Still going to go for 2-1 us. Senderos hatrick.

To be honest, I've lost interest in games against the "SKY four" over recent seasons, but am looking forward to this one Saturday.  We'll be going into it on a bit of a high and they're always capable of having the odd off day (though they very rarely seem to at Villa Park).

Think it's a good time to play them, they have a few injuries in defence. I'd be happy with a point but can't shake this weird feeling that I think I remember as...optimism?

I'll go with, 4-0, All Nathan Baker overhead kicks. Wenger to resign at half time.
