The improved defence has been elated enough already but we are also stronger where we really needed it.
We didnīt spend much but now we got a proper PL standard (Not Championship) midfield with options.

Cleverly
Nzogbia
Delph
Westwood
Bacuna
Grealish
Sanchez
...and Cole (option for when Lambert wants to remove us from a Cup so we can focus on the League)

now just bring back "the Beast" to complete the rising Phoenix!

The reincarnation of Hutton has been the biggest miracle of all though,

he was the most useless thing I'd seen for some time in a Villa shirt, I had zero confidence he would even be less than average, but he has slotted into that defence like a glove, and is playing some fine stuff

Quite Incredible really, I really don't know what to make of it all

 ;D I know the feeling.

I was convinced Senderos would be shit for us, said it before I asked a few Arsenal fans if he was any good and they all laughed.

Against my better judgement I purchased the Mercury this morning thinking I'd actually enjoy reading the match report for once, what the fuck have they done to our badge? Did anyone else spot this?

That's for Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd fans who don't know where Aston Villa are from

My favourite bit is how he puts the word tactics in between inverted commas.

My favourite bit was when he couldn't spell the name of his team's manager. I know we still have people calling Clark, 'Clarke' but it's worse when it's the manager.

Forgot I'd left the kitchen radio on TawkSpawt from yesterday. Flicked it on, Cundy doing Call Collymore. "Oh, woe is Liverpool". Not much mention of us deserving our win. Then one of theirs rang in to tell him, in his not-at-all-scouse accent, that he'll "be eating humble pie" come May when they win the league. I kid you not.

I got so nervous during the second half that I took a couple of breaks by walking into the living room and watching a minute or two of Tumble. Of my own free will. Obviously my mind was still on the game. Except maybe the bit when that Lucy from some reality TV show was cavorting acrobatically.

I thought we were controlling the game as they passed sideways endlessly

But we should have been able to get out a little more than we did. Keep 8 behind the ball by all means, but the front three couldn't get out

I'm not complaining at all though. Fantastic start to the season and well beyond my expectations. Feeling quite positive about the arsenal game too. A good draw, with us genuinely competing and not just holding on, would be fine by me. A win and I'm fully in 'losing my shit' mode.

They look vulnerable through the middle to me.

There were a few times when we had a time and space and did hoof it away. We could have passed it better or at least played Gabby into the space behind the defender. Minor gripe though from a great, solid performance.

Ive never seen so many grown men wearing LFC replica gear with a number and a players name on the back, the train was full of them going back to the midlands all trying to outdo each other with how pissed of they were at losing to little old Villa and what such loyal fans they were in continuing to watch them on the telly next week after the hardship of only finishing second and spending a hundred million quid in the summer, cameras round their necks, their only connection to Liverpool laughing at shite John Bishop scetches to try and fit in.

I dont know what ached more, my feet from standing or my face from sneering at them,

Looking forward to the office in Central London tomorrow where we have 5 or 6 plastic scouse reds. 3 Asian and 3 from Surrey / Kent / Berkshire.
Massive wind up time.

Two things. First the Senderos thing. talk about mountains and molehills and looking for excuses. All he did was flick out a leg and trip Balotelli. The over-reaction from Liverpool fans unable to accept the defeat is laughable. Getting into Mark Lawrenson's team of the week for the second time this season the ex-centre half, and Liverpool player summed it up perfectly:

He gave Mario Balotelli a couple of kicks just for good measure and caused problems for Liverpool in both boxes.
Welcome back to the Premier League Mario.

I'm a very nervous watcher on the telly but apart from the usual clock-watching and always believe we are going to lose (only accepted that we'd get at least a point by the 94th minute) I was never unduly worried. We did look comfortable throughout.

10 points out of 12 is as excellent a start as we could have dreamt of. That pre-season dread as the season draws ever nearer seem light years away now. Its still likely that we are going to have 3 defeats on the bounce but there is reason for genuine optimism. Hopefully if the next 3 games are all defeats hopefully the togetherness of this team is still intact because they look like a comfortable mid-table team that should be pushing top 8 with a bit of luck.
