After what I said about Baker before the game I'm having a huge slice of humble pie for tea.

I'll join you if you don't mind

All I have to say is well done Nathan Baker. You've made a good number of us look complete mugs and very much me. What a super option now off the bench. We planned for this and got it right. They had lots of the ball did very little of note with it. And big Phil, what a man!! Our defence looks fucking rock right now.

What an amazing result and I noticed terrific team spirit at the end.  Dare I say it Senderos looks like the Swiss Puyol.

Thanks Villa and well done everyone.  A great start to my weekend, just the small matter of Ironman Wales tomorrow but that's put me right in the mood for it.  Get in.

Aw, good luck Jon. You've picked a tough one there mate. Get to bed.

It's what top 4 sides do. They go to mid-table sides and go home with a routine 3 points in the bag.

Liverpool only had two or three shots on target as well, it wasn't like we were properly hanging on, I never got that feeling from the crowd and players that the goal was imminent. Instead of just holding on it felt more like we snuffed them out before the chances came today. Credit to Baker he was outstanding, and special mention to the midfield three particularly Westy/Cleverley who were both excellent. Point against Arsenal and Everton which is definitely possible and that will cap off a great opening month or two of the season.

That was the most comfortable backs to the wall performance, 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' were so deliberate and moved the ball so slowly.
Take a bow Nathan Baker, I knew he would come good ;-0

Can this season get any better.

Baker Man Of The Match at Anfield. Literally incredible.

I said it on the match thread and I'll say it again.

If I ever meet the lad, I'll invite him to punch me in the face.

Defensively, very impressive organised performance. Its obvious that our best signing has been Roy Keane. He is the reason for our massive change of fortunes.

Fabian Delph gave a highly disciplined performance for 90mins.

Everybody worked their socks off.  Wonderful!

I do wonder whether he has had a big influence since his arrival. Does seem like it.

I thought that was the perfect away game by Villa today, the first 20 minutes we played some excellent stuff took the lead then PL changed formation and almost totally snuffed Liverpool out for the rest of the game by the whole team working their socks off and limiting Liverpool to just one shot on target.

Well done to PL for his tactics today, that was the first time in a long while I could totally relax for the whole of the second half watching us defend a one goal lead.
