Aston Villa v Hull City Post Match Thread

Thank fuck for that. Once again we stopped playing after about 50 minutes. Superb first half and then we went into our normal VP shell. Lots to do still but 7pts from 9 is a really good start

It should have been a lot more comfortable, but the first half was tremendous and, the goal apart, we rarely actually looked threatened defensively (even when we couldn't get the ball off them in the second half).

This is really promising. I did not think it would be like this after three games.

One stupid foul by Sanchez caused all that mayhem. Overall great 3 points though.

Sure didn't make it easy for ourselves with that second half nonsense, especially with Sanchez unnecessarily conceding the free kick which produced their goal and with Bent missing that chance to wrap things up.

Still, 7 from the first three games is a great achievement, and a lot of positives, especially in that first half performance.

Me neither but I'm so glad it is as I'm not sure we'll get much from our next five games.

That first half was great but why can't we ever sustain a decent performance for two consecutive halves?

I don't get why we fix things that aren't broken.  Sanchez substitution refers.

They were on top second half but we still had a few good breakaways, and they didn't really create a great deal aside from the goal. Guzan had to make one top save but not much more.

The first half was tremendous. In the second we defended very well and despite conceding Hull barely had a sniff for all their possession. Fantastic start to the season.

I reckon jack will be a 20 a season man, not goals, but yellow cards against him

I thought it was logical. We were being dominated and N'Zogbia hadn't been playing very well so it was fair to take N'Zog off, put Richardson wide and strengthen the middle to try and get more of the ball.

How many shots on goal was that?!

BBC says 11
That sounds better than it was, before today I mean. Almost got Delph and Bent in the goals as well as Gabby and Weimann.  More of the first half stuff, please, well done Villa.
