Fucking hell still no Okore :(

2-0 to us.

Not in the squad is a slight concern but I certainly wouldn't drop Senderos yet.

Completely agree on not dropping Senderos but Okore's continued absence is becoming a big worry.

No Vlaar is a concern.  With Okore not fit still would like to see Clark rather than Baker take up his role.  Agree that this might be a good game to give Grealish a run around (and yes I know that kind of makes him sound like a old dog, but I couldn't resist ???).  Think I might start Sachanz on the bench, but then bring him on at half time depending on how the game is going.  Think there are tougher matches we might need him for.  1-0 or 2-1 to us would do me nicely.  Need to give the home fans something to shout about.

I would take Ince. Davies is probably better than Senderos at their best, but not sure. Jelavic is ok, and a good goalscorer but no better than an interested Bent.

I am sure Lambert said Okore would not be ready until after the international break the other day so not really shocked on that one.

The idea that Baker is now clearly in front of Clark is not good for him at all - and not something I agree with!

I'd love us to somehow have a barnstorming, gung-ho approach to this. Just go and win the game! Claim Villa Park as your own again Villa! Finger crossed.

It's depressing to see Hull having a number of players I'd like us to have. Their midfield is good. I really rate Quinn, too. Never stops working.
I'd have Huddlestone and Jelavic of their starting XI today, but I'm not sure where else I would take their player over ours.

Possibly Ince and Davies.

Those four, yeah. I wouldn't mind Quinn as a squad player.

I am sure they are looking at Delph and thinking the same ......

Almohamody is one of their key players.

I'd hope so. He's our best midfielder.

It's probably the team I'd have picked though I wonder what Delph could do in the more advanced midfield role

Width is a concern. Looks like they'll be playing 352 so I expect the key factors today to be:

Which midfield three is dominant - I'd guess it will be reasonably equal
Our wide forwards versus their defence. Do we get left almost three on three up front but risk their wing backs getting loads of space? Or do our wide forwards get in a battle with their wing backs and either get sucked back into deep positions of push them back to be a defensive minded back five?

In theory it's formations like our 433 that started to make 3 at the back seem redundant. Let's hope we can cause them some real problems

Thought we'd see Sanchez start, but not to be yet.

Come on lads, we need a win.

Wish this was on TV.

It's on the Internet.

Everything is.

I just prefer to see 'em on TV if I can!

Mainly because then I can watch it on TV while messing about on the laptop at the same time.

On TV here. I can experience my misery, concern and possible ecstasy in crystal clear HD.

Two very even sides on paper. If Zogbia and Gabby turn up today, I'd fancy us. Particularly in the case of the latter, it's a big if.
My main hope is that we play Gabby left and Andi through the middle this time, to do them both a favour. Gabby's fluffed a few chances this season and his pace will be better used wide, and Andi is done no favours playing wide. He can put a chance away if he gets it, but he needs to play through the middle.

See what I've been reduced to? Lovely balmy late August afternoon, and I've felt compelled to dig out the "lucky" scarf. Now a bit sweaty.

I hope you're bloody happy, Villa.

This. Oh god, this.

It's bugging me seeing Gabby up top and Andi out wide. They need to swap. Weimann is much better through the middle, whereas Gabby can use his pace against fullbacks and cut in from out wide to give slow Dawson problems today.
