Delph contract worry
« on: August 28, 2014, 07:13:50 AM »
Now its looking like Delph has finally got his much deserved England call up, all i think is its going to put him in the shop window and alert clubs that he is in his last 12 months of his contract. Come January he can speak to any club, so hopefully they pull their fingers out and get him signed up to a good deal that he deserves.

If you were Delph, would you sign a new contract down the Villa right now? - same goes for Vlaar.

This whole situation with contracts worries me greatly. Hopefully's it not the same case as Albrighton where the player wants to sign but the club are unwilling to meet his wage demands.

It's going to be a concern - Delph is one of the few that are still left on O'Neill-style contracts.

It wouldn't be a massive surprise if he were on £40k per week, happy to sign again for that amount only for the club to be offering £20k.

When does Fox take up his post? I'm certain that all these contract situations will be his major priority once he gets started.

I'm sure most professionals in his position would be thinking that a good season and possible England involvement would mean he could demand big wages on a Bosman transfer next summer.

He's finally been named in the england squad. For some reason though so has Jack Colback.

5Live news at 12:30 named the new England squad members and included Newcastle midfielder Fabian  Delph!!!!

Sums up the BBC's knowledge of clubs not in the top 6 or London.

The naive side of me would like to think that Delph owes the club a little bit of loyalty, but does that word exist in Football?

I imagine a priority for Mr Fox even before he has cut himself a new arse groove in his chair is to secure Vlaar and Delph to new deals.

No, from both sides of the coin.

If he'd been shit for the last two years rather than really quite good then we wouldn't want to offer him a new contract.

Villa (and any other club) are out for the good of the club, why shouldn't the players be out for the good of themselves?
