Does anyone else listen to...
« on: August 04, 2014, 05:09:02 PM »
the 'Aston Villa Review' podcast?

http://www.astonvillareview.com/p/about-avr.html

This is not a plug (although I do enjoy it). I'm interested to know if others listen, what the general opinion of it is and are Chris Nee and/or Stephen Green members here?

I listen to them.  Find them quite fair and balanced.

I do. I like it. They have been on a similar emotional journey to me in terms of the past two years.

My only criticism is they keep the podcast too short for my liking. They should not feel as limited imho.

To answer my own question, I enjoy Chris Nee's focus on the tactics (both starting and in-game changes) and use of substitutes. Generally I find myself agreeing with Chris' opinion. Less so with Steve's (apologies if he reads this!).

Ever since seeing Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, I don't trust pod people.

I did not know it existed but will give it a go.
My guilty pleasure over the past couple of seasons has been Alan Davies equivalent for Arsenal, genuinely very funny and captures the rollercoaster effect of being a football fan.

I listen to it - though i couldn't face it at the back end of last season!

I like Chris Nee, I think he's balanced and thoughtful.

Stephen Green (sorry if he reads this) seems like a nice guy,  but I don't think he adds that much. He often gives the impression of not having thought much about something when Chris asks him a question and his views on where the fault lies with a goal we concede are often just weird (eg midfielder gives it away in own half, full back gets skinned too easily - goal is Vlaar's fault for not marking two players in the box!)

The Villa podcast isn't as funny or outrageous as the Alan Davies/Tayo Popoola one, but it's well worth a listen. Chris and Steven express the views of ordinary fans, and you don't often get that in the media.

Enjoyed when they did their shows on Fivelive for International tournaments, but sadly they weren't renewed for this world cup.  Might give their one and ours a listen.
