Carlos needs a few weeks off so he can play the last 30 minutes in games. He looks spent after 60 and starts making errors. I think he's a very good player to have in the squad given the right circumstances. Not an every game player.

Lallana made the difference, he did the job sterling and Townsend should have been doing and got in and around the box and kept the ball moving.  That front 3 doesn't work because they all want to do it on their own, Townsend shouldn't be anywhere near the team and Sterling needs to grow up.

I agree with that, Townsend and Sterling are too similar and offer no subtlety, in fact very little other than pace.  I'd argue that Walcott should be picked ahead of both too.  Lallana is a great player - similar to Grealish in a way - but has been under utilised at Liverpool, I think, as he is seen to lack power or pace.

Come the actual Euro 2016, this England team will really struggle

Don't think England will be too far off tbh. Delph's energy could be crucial in summer football, England have had too many one paced plodders in midfield and he is a welcome change there.

Big problem at centre back. Jagielka looked a bit bambi on ice at the World Cup. Not a huge Smalling fan but at least is quick. Shaw should be a certainty at left back with Clyne or maybe Walker with a turnaround in form on the other side. Hart is one of the better keepers in Europe. Shrek should be up top at club and international level or on the bench. Need to surround him with quick players. Think Hodgson has a better shape in the side with the likes of Gerrard and even Sturridge out, with Delph giving legs in midfield and Rooney up front. potential for a good counterattacking side there especially with the full backs. No point trying to patiently pass through the best sides with the likes of Henderson or Milner in midfield.

England have a lot of players in the maybe category, need a few of these to step up big time next season to have a decent shout - Walcott, Barkley, Wilshere, Lallana, Sturridge, Sterling, Wellbeck.

Good game to watch. Surprised Walcott didn't play. Our problem is the defence. Only Hart and Cahill are really good enough at that level and even they suffer from playing in a weaker defence than they do at club level. We really need another centre half and two full backs to have outstanding league seasons next season to cement their places. Although even that doesn't guarantee they will do it for England. Baines is a prime example of that.

Clint Dempsey ripped up a referee's notebook and was sent off as Seattle Sounders finished a cup match against Portland Timbers with seven men.

The United States captain reacted angrily to a red card  for team-mate Michael Azira during a US Open Cup tie.

Referee Daniel Radford sent off the 32-year-old forward as well as Azira, having earlier dismissed Brad Evans.

Dempsey flicked the notebook out of Radford's hand, picked it up off the pitch and then tore it into pieces.

Striker Obafemi Martins also went off injured with all three substitutions used as Seattle lost the game 3-1.

Dempsey, who left Tottenham and returned to Major League Soccer with Seattle in August 2013, was dismissed in extra time at the Starfire Stadium.

After the red card Dempsey, capped 112 caps by the US, had to be restrained by team-mates and sarcastically applauded in the face of an assistant referee as he made his way off the pitch.

The cynic in me wonders whether they'd have taken similar action if the players involved were say, Vardy, Ulloja and Schmeichel and not 3 crap players.

Leicester City have sacked three players, including manager Nigel Pearson's son, after they took part in a racist sex tape filmed on the club's end-of-season tour of Thailand.

James Pearson, 22, Tom Hopper, 21, and Adam Smith, 22, had their contracts terminated following an internal investigation by the club.

The offending video was obtained by the Sunday Mirror.

The three development squad players apologised for their behaviour.

A club statement said Leicester City "is acutely aware of its position, and that of its players, as a representative of the city of Leicester, the Premier League, the Football Association and the club's supporters".

It added that it is "committed to promoting a positive message of community and family values and equality" and "to upholding the standards expected of a club with its history, tradition and aspirations".

The Premier League team were on tour in Thailand, home of the club's billionaire owners, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and son Aiyawatt.

Of the three men, only defender Pearson has made a first-team appearance this season.

He played in the Capital One Cup loss to Shrewsbury Town.

Sanchez apparently outstanding against Brazil overnight. Kept Neymar out of it and pretty much dictated play.

I've still got hope for him. Plus I like his hair.

I think there's a decent player in him. Sometimes you just need to give some foreign players time to settle in, both on and off the pitch.
