And to think we didn't do the same for Craig Gardner.  Shame on us I reckon.

I'm listening on 5 live and it's horrible

It's ok mate. I'm sat here in Tokyo with Spurs on my girlfriend's TV, she's passed out in her 82 European Cup Final shirt, and I'm laughing about Newcastle's demise on BBC vidiprinter. We're staying up mate!
hi Nik all those sleepless nights for you and miserable Saturday afternoons for me at VP have been worth it in the end! Never in doubt🌞

haha. Hello Aftab, true mate, very true. Never in doubt!

I was looking forward to coming home for the final, as it coincided with my sister's wedding. However, the wedding was cancelled, and I'll now have her as a brokenhearted guest here in Japan for 2 weeks. And I can't really complain to her that due to her and her(now ex)fiance, I can't go to Wembley....
Did you get a ticket?

Oh no that's bad cos in future when you mention the year Villa won the cup she'll start crying! Never mind  I am sure it's prob good and she'll find better! Yes my two bad boys (tickets) arrived yesterday. All sorted for Friday night prep and Saturday night celebrations in London. How we all deserve that for all the suffering during Lambert's reign!

For all you people wishing Spurs to fuck off, give it a rest please.

I have had no end of Spurs fans from home contacting me today to congratulate us on staying up and wishing us the best of luck in the FA Cup Final. I know lots of Spurs fans and believe me the fans are not the Press who big them up and most of them are passionate and genuine fans who think the Press are delusional about them.

Agreed there is no need to do that however they didn't "save us" as some have said. They no more saved us than we relegated Newcastle and this wasn't the last game of the season either.
Yes they will be cheering us on come the cup final and both  Spurs fans I know are thoroughly decent human beings.

What's all of this guard of honour bollocks about as well?  As a professional footballer, being asked to line up and praise another team or player at the start of the game must be a very galling experience.  If I was the opposing manager, I'd tell them to piss off.

Agreed.  Scholes who won infinitely more PL trophies didn't get any of this.

Scholes who was an infinitely better player too.

The media obsession with a blood and thunder player like Gerrard, whose never world class, sums up part of the reason why England are shit.

I'm no big Gerrard fan, but must admit it was a bit emotional at the end when the crowd were all singing for him as he walked round Anfield for the last time with Kris Commons' daughters.

Sorry to dissent, but Gerrard seems an alright bloke to me and often carried a mediocre side single-handed- here's to 16 years of Jack Grealish staying at the Villa and getting a similar send-off in 2031!

I think I'd accept no league titles, but one European Cup in the next 16 years

Just so long as Jack has also won us some trophies by being the one to grab the situation by the scruff on the neck and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

I think the national media's obsession with Gerrard's long goodbye has been completely overblown - and I shudder at the thought of what it'll be like when John Terry calls time on his Chelsea career - and will seem even more ridiculous when he's back playing on loan in January.  However, I, too, like the player and although you can argue about his limitations at the highest international level, I would have someone like him in our midfield in a heartbeat.

I'm glad we tore up the script. No doubt it would have been the Stevie Gerrard cup final totalling spoiling the occasion.

What's "alright" about a cheating, diving thug who should've gone to prison?

I'm extremely jealous! Enjoy it mate, you thoroughly deserve it!
She'll be alright-will need her and the girlfriend to stop me diving into the river naked in celebration when we win the cup!
