Messi is amazing. Neymar & Suarez were particularly unlikeable today though what with whining at the ref and celebrating in Neuer's face, loathsome pair.

Bit late adding this but Messi utterly destroying Boateng is one of the best bits of skill I've ever seen, made it look so easy but the speed of his feet and the total control he had was just astonishing, truly brilliant goal.

Nice also to see that the internet is giving that bit of skill the treatment it deserves:

As I said earlier, that move was positively Grealish-esque

I did actually laugh at Messi's second goal. Felt a bit sorry for the defender who ended up on his arse and then to dink the ball over the keeper was amazing.

Yep, Grealish has the ability to turn a defender inside out like that, it's just a case of getting him doing it in the right areas and then adding the finishing to his game.  He's also nowhere near as quick as Messi which will hold him back a little.  I think Grealish will probably end up playing deeper in the long term because of his lack of pace.

And despite all the stick he's taken he's scored 39 in 89 games for Madrid. Not bad for a player not good enough.

But for a team as dominant domestically as they are, and compared to the forwards at Barca, for the "most expensive player ever" its not enough.

I'll never understand how, even in today's batshit prices, spurs managed to get that much for him. Kudos.

Kudos for pissing that money away as well.

All fair points but come on... Grealish v Messi?

Messi is the greatest player of all time.
The way he sat boateng down last night was akin to Our Jack sitting McCarthy down or The Beast sitting Foster down.

Not at all the point, just suggesting that the bit of skill involved in that move is something I can see Grealish doing.

One thing that has been missed from the second Messi goal on Wednesday because of the complete fool he made of Boateng, is the way he took the pass in the first place.  That ball was zinged in there at high speed and he takes it in one touch and it remains at the end of his toe.  His control and first touch are what makes him as amazing as he is, just an incredible talent.
