I don't want to start ww3 again, but he is the best ever and no one will convince me otherwise.

I agree he is just on a completely different level.

Not till he wins the World Cup and that's the final word.

Not till he wins the World Cup and that's the final word.

It's a team game with 11 a side. Winning the World Cup isn't down to an individual player.

It's different in 5/6 a-side sports like basketball or hockey where being the best player does require leading your team to the title. However, that's not the case in football.

Messi is the best ever and, for me, it's not even close.

So much for the 'bedlam' the commentator was telling us about after the final whistle, fuck all compared to VP after the Baggies game with less than half the people there.

Messi is a genius.  The best I have ever seen in over 50 years of watching football.

I think we're privileged to have both Messi and Ronaldo at the same time.  In 50 years there will be the same reverence dished out to both as given now to Pele, Maradona etc...

I will never tire of watching Messi, he's the only player (other than Titus Bramble) to make me laugh on many occasions, some of the stuff he does is outrageous. The fact he obviously gets so much enjoyment from the game also makes me love him even more.

Barca have had some many consecutive years of quality and excitement they are a bit blasé to it. Meanwhile in Aston we are starved of any success go mental as a result of any big victories. Well I do anyway.

I did notice a few Barca fans applauding after the second goal. Looked a bit prawn sandwich

T'was a lovely game, marred only by the tones of Martin Tyler. Will that bloke ever retire.

Bit late adding this but Messi utterly destroying Boateng is one of the best bits of skill I've ever seen, made it look so easy but the speed of his feet and the total control he had was just astonishing, truly brilliant goal.

Nice also to see that the internet is giving that bit of skill the treatment it deserves:
