Championship season over - Bournemouth are champions. What a magnificent job Eddie Howe has done for them. Derby miss out on play-offs after Darren Bent missed a penalty.

I want to laugh at the irony of it all. Ok I will then ...

OK all out for Will Hughes in the summer then please!

it doesn't look to me as if his game has progressed at all in the last couple of years.

I think he once had three good games in a row and maybe one of them was on television? Next minute, he was worth £8m and on his way to Arsenal...

Not really it wasn't a miss it was a very good save. Would have taken them in at half time level though.

Can someone link the next video of that Geordie bloke who ranted after the Sunderland game? I fear he may have exploded with today's efforts.

Sure, but at the end of the day the odds are firmly in favour of the penalty taker from 12yds. That and he went there to give them the final push and in the end his failure to convert has in part cost them a place in the playoffs.

I reckon it's more than goal difference that will prevent us from making the play offs.

I had just got my head around who had done what and what it all meant in the English championship when they decided to explain the situation regarding promotion to the SPL. I think someone has to win three play off ties, the world snooker title and Wimbledon and then they get a chance to pick a playing card and if it is higher than an eight they go up. Although I'm not clear if it is aces high or aces low.

I saw the game, but still, how in the wide world of crap did we lose to Newcastle????

Their players hadn't totally given up on Carver, ours hadn't totally lost Lamberts cloud of playing defensively. If that match was played today I would have said we could easily get our highest ever PL score.

Anyone see Carver has indicated Williamson deliberately got himself sent off so he won't have to play the rest of that match and the next two.

Anyone see Carver has indicated Williamson deliberately got himself sent off so he won't have to play the rest of that match and the next two.

Here's the interview.

Quote from: BBC
Newcastle United boss John Carver: "On a scale of one to 10, it's a minus 10. I can't accept it. I wish the players had as much determination and fight as I had. We can talk about systems and players but if we're not willing to compete, get your head onto the ball and risk getting an injury, you won't get anywhere.

"The referee made the right decisions. I spoke to Mike Williamson at half-time and had a few choice words. I thought he'd done that [got sent off] on purpose - it looks like he did. The ball was off the pitch - he had no need to make the challenge. He will miss two games now, is it an easy way out? I got Tim Krul to speak to Daryl Janmaat, I told him to stay calm and he didn't. The game had gone away from us. We can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

"We can't just keep saying next week will do - it has to happen now. Losing two players doesn't help. The next 24 hours is thinking time - we have to see who is available. We need to find a solution. I can talk all day and make excuses but I have no excuses today.

"It was a very animated dressing room at half time and even more so at full-time. I've asked everyone to have a think and we'll have an open discussion on Monday - it'll be interesting. "
