Somebody said you just know he's the sort who will phone a call centre and his opening words will be "put your manager on please love".

erm.....What's wrong with that?

Calling them 'love' is disrespectful and give them a chance to resolve the issue before escalating it. They will have been trained so it's condescending to just assume they don't know how to do their job.

A quick google reveals this to be the interview. He ay all there is he. Reporter comments in bold, Pearson comments in the loony bin.

Quote
What criticism are you talking about?

Have you been on holiday for six months? Have you been away for six months?

I am not quite sure what specific criticism you are referring to?

I think you must have been either head in the clouds or away on holiday or reporting on a different team because if you don’t know the answer to that question your question is absolutely unbelievable the fact you do not understand where I am coming from. If you don’t know the answer to that question then I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be no.

Probably not.

I can, you can’t. You can’t. Listen you have been here often enough and for you to ask that question, you are either being very, very silly or you are being absolutely stupid, one of the two because for you to ask that question, I am sorry son, you are daft.

There hasn’t been much harsh criticism of the players.

You are wrong. No, you are wrong. You have been in here, I know you have so don’t give that crap with me, please don’t give that crap with me. I will smile at you because I can afford to smile at you. Now do you want to ask a different question or do you want to ask it differently. Come on, ask it. Ask it or are you not capable?

I just don’t know what you, erm…

You don’t know. What’s erm?

I don’t know how you’ve taken that question.

Well you must be very stupid. I’m sorry.
The man is a bully. The things he came out with to that journalist was getting close to nasty, when he said I have to smile at you because I have to, looked to me as he was almost threatening the Jorno. Also, that touchline altercation a few months ago when he grabbed that player down by the neck illustrated that he is wannabe hardman. He wouldn't be so brave if he was talking to Roy Keane I wager.

Pearson has just publicly apologised to the journalist in todays press conference.

You have only have to look at some of his previous press conferences and that time he pinned down that player (can't remember who or what game) to realise he's a mentalist under pressure.

I'm hoping that Pav's was a tongue-in-cheek joke comment

Pearson reminds me of the kind of nutter that repeats what he thinks is a reasonable viewpoint about half a dozen times before trying to stick a pint glass in your face.

Quote from: Telegraph
There has always been this story circulating in football that Nigel Pearson, Leicester City’s record-breaking manager, once fought a bear in Romania. It wasn’t a bear. It was a pack of five vicious dogs and they almost killed the backpacking Pearson.
Pearson had done his research three years ago before boarding the rattler from Sheffield to London, the Eurostar to France and then trains across Europe and deep into the Carpathian mountains. He’d read up on these dogs who inhabit the area, protecting their owner’s sheep, regularly killing bears and occasionally attacking hikers.
Pearson was walking alone when confronted by the pack. One dog went straight for him, trying to occupy his attention while the other four circled behind, looking to bite his legs. Pearson blinded a couple with his walking pole, then fended the others off before diving into stinging nettles. The dogs loathe these because of their sensitive noses.
It went quiet and Pearson thought the dogs had gone. So he set off walking again but the pack was waiting, and attacked again. Sweat pouring off him, Pearson backed up against a tree and poked with his walking pole at the eyes of the dogs until they gave up, leaving him to his walking holiday.

Watching the video of that press conference I was concerned Pearson was going to have a flashback and start poking that journo's eyes.

I've always wanted to have a bizarre `ostrich' rant. I never realised this until now

That's brilliant, better than the Guardian's Fiver, even.

And that video with Pat Murphy is cringey. Such passive-aggression from Pearson. I'm warming a lot more to Murphy these days. I used to think he was far too harsh on us at every opportunity but he just says it as he sees it and asks questions that aren't the standard, tedious ones most of his colleagues ask.

Much as I agree with what Murphy said regarding what's expected in return for all the media cash, I can't help thinking Mourinho can be just as bad when he feels like it and as for Fergie, he managed to avoid talking to the BBC for years and got away with it.
It's a good job Ron Saunders doesn't manage in the modern era!

Was Pearson a condescending headteacher or in the army in a previous life or former profession?
