Because football is a team game. Part of being brilliant is being able to play as part of a team, and in my opinion Ronaldo would be an even better player if the team were more important that him much of the time.

Just seen a poll on Yahoo talking about player of the season. A vote between Sanchez (Alexis, not Carlos!) and Hazard. It then got me racking my brain. I literally cannot recall anything Hazard has done this season. Maybe I'm just ignoring Chelsea out of spite, but I've seen a fair few impressive highlights of Sanchez. Honestly though, I'm struggling to recall any of his goals, or assists or standout games. I've seen us playing Chelsea twice (though have largely repressed those memories). He did score after 8 minutes at VP (had to look it up, can't remember the goal).
I dunno, all I've really recalled of Chelsea this season is Costa's early season form and their dismal Euro showings. Other than that, I'm scratching my head...yet they're strolling to the title.

This may just be me. Zidane recently said he was more of a Hazard fan than Ronaldo or Messi. Hazard is of course a class player, but if you had to ask me to pick a favourite goal, or moment, or describe his style of play, I honestly couldn't. I've seen plenty of highlights from Lionel and Ron though. Maybe I just have Hazard blindless.

I know what you mean, the general consensus seems to be he's going to walk player of the year and while he is undoubtedly an important player for the champions I don't think he's made as big an impact as players like Kane and Sanchez. Then again, given I have hardly watched MOTD this season (thanks Paul) I haven't seen many highlights/goals of other teams this season.

I feel like the media narrative about Chelsea was all about Fabregas and Costa in the first half of the season (which makes sense, given their status as big summer signings) and then how they reverted to a typical Mourinho team in grinding out victories in the past few months; which makes Hazard rather overlooked. Looking at his match history (http://www.whoscored.com/Players/33404/Fixtures/Eden-Hazard) it seems like the major thing with him has been his remarkable consistency, as opposed to a stretch of particularly brilliant performances. On the other hand, you look at Alexis and you see him pile up the goals in the first half of the season with the rest of that team floundering a litle, before going off the boil somewhat recently.

I could not agree more supertom. It is a really strange one, and I am sure he has been brilliant, but I can't recall anything amazing from him, yet I have seen him being talked of in the Roanldo/ Messi bracket this season.

I think he's a super link player on top of the other stuff that we know he can do. He'd makes great runs that just open up space. The truth is it hasn't been a spectacular season in the PL generally. Chelsea have been top for ages now and they haven't really had to be great because all of the other contenders have been so mediocre. Arsenal started their surge way too late. The other thing is I pretty much shut down watching all football up until Sherwood arrived. That is I was forced to watch our lot shit the bed week after week, but I just couldn't stomach watching anything else due to being so massively pissed off all the time. I'm sure Hazard did some good things that I simply didn't bother paying attention too, but like I said it's been a very vanilla season, so I doubt he had to be at his absolute best too often to beat out other players if he does win Player of the Year.

13 goals and 9 assists for Hazard, 14 goals and 8 assists for Sanchez.

Since we have been skaggling about at the wrong end I've watched very little of Match of the Day and very little of other teams to know who has or hasn't played well. i guess somebody at chelsea must be doing okay and Arsenal have been on a decent run so somebody there must also be doing well. but as this has been voted for a while back i guess it was who was doing better then and as Chelsea have been at the top all season it'll tip the balance a Chelsea player's way. i wonder if Costa's start to the season will have a bearing?

Southampton 1 Spurs 1 in the battle to avoid the europa league. I wonder if spurs fans will be singing southampton's song today.
