So we play Arsenal in the final.

Don't be silly.  You know it's Stevie G's destiny  to end his career with a cup final.  We mustn't be selfish and spoil the the party.  It's what the country wants.

Ian Wright "i'd rather we beat them on penalties than see him go through that", or words to that effect. Yes Ian, because the bloke/s who miss a penalty will be much happier. Twat.

Messi scored his 400th goal for Barcelona earlier.

It was Messi's 278th league goal for the Primera Division leaders, with a further 75 coming in the Champions League, 32 in the Copa Del Rey, 10 in the Spanish Super Cup, four in the Club World Cup as well as one strike in the UEFA Super Cup.

He doesn't turn 28 for another couple of months!

Somebody once said on here that they will cry when Messi stops playing football. I will too.

 ;D @ Nev's post.

We will miss Messi's talent (and Ronaldo) but James just scored a pretty amazing goal, again. I think he could be the next big thing after those gents move on.

James Rodriguez, the columbian who was probably the best player at the world cup and has been superb for Real this year.  I agree, he's a special talent, not quite on the Messi level but he'll be as good as Ronaldo in a year or 2.

I now firmly believe Messi is the best player of all time, it's easy to get all misty-eyed about the likes of Pele, etc but Messi has done it at the ery top level of club football for his entire career.

Could be. He was the best player in the best team I have ever seen (Pep's Barca). It wasn't just the fact that they won, but they did it by dominating the opposition in all areas. I will also note  another positive for Messi is that unlike many other great players (and his barca teammates) I have never seen him cheat or dive.

He's also now the best player in a phenomenal front 3 who between them seem to scoring for fun.

He is a miserable git isn't he? I think Ferguson said he was the only opposition manager who didn't have a quick drink with his opposite number after games. You wouldn't want to would you? I doubt he has a sparkling array of one liners. I really felt for the Reading keeper. He was inconsolable. It took me back to Espana '82 and Thomas N'Kono when Cameroon went out.
