and his Derby record makes me think they will be desperate to sign him as quickly as possible. Mind you if we stop up Sherwood will be thinking along the same lines. With Lambert and Lerner out of the picture it will be safe for Benty to come back. Sherwood likes him, and he could be a replacement for Benteke if he goes elsewhere over the summer. But I have a feeling he may stay.We shall see.

If Derby go up (which I don't think they will now) then Bent is almost certain to stay as he is just happy to play for any top flight club at this point, and they may feel like his instincts and experience could be enough to scrap out the odd 1-0 away win. 

He isn't good enough to replace Benteke.  If he comes back to Villa then it should be as a squad player and nothing more, but I don't see it happening anyway.

A motivated and fit Bent as a squad player isn't a bad option. Lambert gone, Faulkner gone and Lerner nearly gone. I just don't see why he'd want to come back and he's clearly doing well at Derby. If they come up he may as well stick with them because he'd get more playing time and they would likely try and find a way to play to his strengths. I don't know that we'd set up that way unless it was late in the game and we were chasing a goal. Also, and most importantly as a full time PL player I just don't think he has it anymore.
