I have just returned from Thailand where the Premiership coverage is everywhere.

but it was surreal

Fox Sport rolling out old Liverpool games 24/7 and not the good ones?!

The Presenter of the programme (Asian Gary Lineker ) wearing a Liverpool Tracksuit!

all the beer had United and Chelsea players pictured across them , not pleasant

What did tickle me a Leicester City club shop at Bangkok Airport!

It was a football Universe Alien to me  :-\

Surely all half & half scarves should be one half your own team and the other half is always the black & white of Newcastle United*

*everyone's favourite second team

They are the idea of a marketing man/woman who thinks that were all just football crazy people who watch Soccer AM and always cheer on the English teams in Europe as well as the national side.

That got me thinking. When did Newcastle officially stop being everyone's second favourite team and who is supposed to be everyone's second favourite team now?

Albion always claim to be...who could fail to be beguiled by their samba rhythms and dazzling devil-may-care attack minded tactics? Pulisinho has put paid to that!

Southampton?

Southampton are probably everyone's favourite underdogs/over achievers this season. But that fondness never lasts because fans of other teams soon get fed up of that sort of team beating their team and finishing above their team.

Either that or the team in question reverts back to being quite shit.

I think everyone's favourite second team is the one currently taking points off the establishment, who are entertaining and who have done so by not buying success and/or obviously screwing others over down the years. Oh, and their fans maintain a sense of realism about their current position. Kind of rules out every team other than Villa for me. But then again, I wish nothing but the worst for all clubs unless it directly benefits us.

I am a floating fan of various other teams on a weekly basis due to my gambling. Any club achieving the double of playing the noses and being part of one of my bets usually wins the favourite prize. Unfortunately any team playing one of our relegation rivals has also become a big favourite in recent years. Even if it is Manchester United. Which really rankles.

For this Sunday only I can exclusively reveal it's Liverpool FC & the nations favourite son (back street illegitimate) Steven Gerrard.

I think Fulham was a likable team for a while there, nice ground, decent fans, amusingly deranged owner. These days though its probably Swansea, just because they play a decent brand of football.

About 12 years ago I did a job in Hong Kong and lived over there for 6 months and also did a bit of business travel around Asia and the Premier League is massive. Beckham's face was on everything - chocolates, car oil and lots of stuff he wouldn't advertise over here.

Needless to say everyone supported Liv or Utd. Nothing more guaranteed to get your pi** boiling than arriving into Bangkok first thing for some tedious meeting and being driven around by a Yanited shirt wearing driver whose only English was Scholes, Beckham and Giggs.

I recall my first trip to Tokyo. Walk out the airport and was greeted by an 80 foot poster of David Beckham. It was quite disturbing.

Hmm, that's odd, I remember Everton being the massive club there when I visited last year, because they're sponsored by Chang.

The official beer of Chelsea is Singha. The bridge is awash with the stuff.

Why do Sky feel the need to show us Liverpool fans singing that shit anthem of theirs like it was the Beatles who had just reformed or something. Just go to a bloody break and let them get on with it. We don't all go weak at the knees with awe when it comes to Liverpool you know.
