USA lose to a hat trick from the legend that is Nicklas Bendtner

In amongst the Bendtner bizarreness there's a decent player in there somewhere.

In amongst there is the best player and person in the entire world, according to Bendtner

Twice in a row champions of the Women's Super League Liverpool, lost their first match at home to newly promoted Sunderland.

I sometimes think women's football is like men's football used to be, where you can get promoted and have a chance of winning the league the next season. Also, they don't dive and surround the referee after every decision.

My dad watches a lot of womens football and womens cricket. Along with a lot of mens football and cricket.

My mum spends a lot of time watching TV in the kitchen.

In the build up to the England game I have just heard on SSN that Andros Townsend played a total of 107 games out on loan to a total of 9 different clubs.

Imagine being champions and losing your first match at home to a newly promoted side.

Imagine winning a trophy and losing your first match at home to Sunderland.

One day someone will create the perfect ego-driven strike pairing of Bendtner and Altidore.

It takes a shit load of cash to get to that stage.

Of course, allowing Manchester City to parachute straight into the top division has already undermined the integrity of Women's Super League.

I'm really sorry, but women's football is dreadful.  It's not even non-league standard.

I agree.

I know we're supposed to act like it's all cool and stuff now, but it really is crap. Especially the goalkeepers.

The last Women's World Cup Final was better than any men's final I can remember. I think at the highest level (eg the World Cup Final) it's pretty decent but the standard descends quickly, more so than in men's which is unsurprising considering the far lower participation numbers.

I don't think there's much point in comparing it with the men's game, any more than there is a point in saying Denise Lewis was a load of rubbish because she wouldn't have been able to compete with the men.

The goalies are shite though.

I have some sympathy for that view, but you don't always have to watch something because its the best quality there is. If that was the case nobody would watch anything below the Champions League. Is your point actually that men are stronger and more athletic than women, in which case I would say, so what, we all know this? The sympathy I do have for that view it is because there are sports where I find the Women's version more entertaining or watchable than the Men's, but at the moment football isn't one of them. With sports like Athletics for example, I'm as interested if not more in the Women's version. When Tennis was dominated by the big servers maybe 15 years ago, and perhaps before the dominance of the Williams sisters, I definitely found the Women's version more entertaining than the men's. The fact is that attendances at Women's games are at non-league levels, and this may well be about right for the standard/ level of entertainment at the moment. Girls aren't generally as interested in watching sport as boys, but I don't know why girls would be, or should be expected to be more interested in watching Men's football rather than Women's. Any team that wears an Aston Villa shirt I will support, because I'm as interested in the cultural phenomenon that is Aston Villa, as I am in football. I don't know how coherent that was as I've had some wine.

Seemed just fine to me. But then again, I've had some beer.

It's utterly dreadful. And it feels longer than 90 minutes because even on the best pitches the women look like they are running in treacle or the game is being played in slow motion. It's so laboured and almost comical at times. Not saying that it's all like that as every now and then you get a moment that causes an eyelid to half open.

Oh and the Women's WC is in my neck of the woods this year. Wonderful...

And you can guarantee that every player in the tournament will be better and fitter than you could ever dream of being.

I'm 42. I should hope so. And I dare say there will be quite a few fit ones on display.
