Feel free to point that out to Danny, which is who I nicked it off!

Well they had the perfect mix of power and skill imo

Schweinsteiger and Martinez in CM

Robben Ribery and Muller supporting 3

Mandzukic up front (who could still have been replaced by Lewandowski, obviously)

Now they just fart about with it too much - would that team above have been destroyed by Madrid 5-0 on aggregate last season?

And before you ask, no I'm not Tim Sherwood

Yeah, Guardiola's all fart and no shit. Not like his teams have ever scored any goals or won any trophies.

He's ruining Bayern with them walking the league and maintaining their position as one of the elite sides in Europe. Unforgiveable.

Haha. They'd walk that league with Lambert in charge. Fact remains that the side who won the CL would dominate this tika-taka shite

Tiki Taka shite?  Yeah, balls to that.  Get it to the winger to swing it in for the big man.  That's how you win trophies in Europe...

That's not what I said at all. In fact I explained in my second post why I liked the original team so much, and how Guardiola had actually weakened it by implementing his trademark over-elaborate passing style. The quality of the players there compared to the rest of the league means they'll still win it every year, but its clear that they're a shadow of their former team. He moved Martinez into defence and started playing the best RB in the world (Lahm) in defensive mid, just as an example of his pointless tinkering.

But yeah because they still win 5-0 against Hannover or some other chancers means that my points are irrelevant and I'm actually Dave bloody Bassett.

I see Sturridge is already 'injured' for England. Wonder how many more pull outs they'll be, leaving Delph with ample opportunity to get injured for real.

Since Stevieeeeeee's going to be having a bit of a break from league football, how about bringing him back for England.

I would be concerned about him being tired after playing in the United game.

Tiki Taka shite?  Yeah, balls to that.  Get it to the winger to swing it in for the big man.  That's how you win trophies in Europe...

Tika-Taka is shite and we should know, we’ve watched near enough two thirds of a season with it.

Barca at their pomp were easily the hardest working side in football, easier to do when you have a lot of the ball, but they’d press the life out of the opposition and then pass it with purpose from a high line. Its helped of course with the best player to ever play the game and two players of absolute genius pulling the strings. Tika-taka is possession for its sake, which has relevance, but Bayern took a step back last season.

I think the bloke has a point; old Pep has taken over a side who won the treble lets not forget and on route to that European Cup win, absolutely bladdered Barcelona, so it’s important to be choosey with our snide remarks, as what went before him clearly wasn’t broken.

I think you've made the point well Ads. How do you top the treble and especially in the manner that they did it? That said, there is nothing "unforgiveable" about Guardiola's methods. It was always going to be near impossible bringing in his philosophy on the game to that side coupled with the players he had. All outstanding off course but none of them were Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. That Bayern side was built differently and it takes time to change and how they play. I think his style is lovely to watch when played to perfection which we saw on countless occasions with Barcelona tearing new ones to just about everyone. Bayern may never achieve it but they will still be attractive to watch and force to reckon with.

Yep, the key point is that their success was built on incredible hard work and purpose. And then overlayed with very skilful players.

All fair points TV, and I admit my use of 'unforgiveable' was a tad flippant.

Maybe I should have said "It's a shame they brought in that particular manager who was the complete diametric opposite of the style of the current incumbent, who had created a team that had a devastating blend of skill and power."

I think I was drinking at the time and couldn't be arsed.

Doesn't appear Falcao is too eager to stay in Manchester.
