I find it funny the way Ryan Giggs sits there, totally ignored by Van Gaal, with a look on his face that screams "if I keep looking intently here and there, will they think I actually have a job?"
This.
At one point VG was talking to the bloke on his left. Giggs was sitting there with his hood up, miles away. Suddenly realised something might have been going on, lowered his hood and looked intent.
Yer wot?
Game?
I'm fu**in' freezin'!
When can we go home?
Fed up now.
Are we there yet?

Brilliant!

Watching this brings memories flooding back, like the Abbey Stadium floods in its river meadow, of Villa's 2-1 defeat in the League Cup 3rd round. In the league winning season with the league winning team, September 1980. I was there. Anyone else?

No, but I was there the season before, when we drew 1-1, that being the last season I ever genuinely thought we were going to win the FA Cup, before we lost to West Ham.

That FA cup year was it 1-1 at Cambridge and we win the replay 4-0 ?

To a dodgy penalty if I remember correctly.

Van Gaal  keeps him on the bench next to him to protect his job that's all.

And to make sure he can't keep Mrs Van Gaal company while he is away with the team.

That was a great result for Cambridge last night and for former Villa youth team coach Richard Money the Cambridge manager. I remember when he was Walsall manager and a reporter said " So Richard Money why do you have the nickname Dickie Dosh?"

'Inspired' by the biggest derby in the world being played today I was trying to think of players who played for SHA, WBA and the Villa. I got Morley, Hopkins, Phillips, Ridgewell, Davies, Gardner, and Myhill with Saunders as manager. Ron Wylie played for Villa and SHA then managed Albion and Dennis Mortimer coached at Albion after playing for us and SHA. There must be a couple from the days when football was played in black and white too I would have thought. Possibly over to DW on that one?

That's not fair as Ryan keeps that sort of thing confined to the close family.

Just over 5000 at Blackburn vs Swansea. The magic of the FA Cup and all that... 1-1 right now

I was just about to post that I have had to turn the sound down as the crowd noise was distracting me from posting! I didn't realise it was THAT low an attendance though. It is on BBC Wales on digital if anyone cares.

So much for the friendly derby. The Bitters and the Shite having been having a go near the Sty.

3-1 blackburn.  Swansea went down to 10 men after about the minutes.
Shane Duffy the blackburn centre back looks half decent.  Monk less so.

another red...

I can see Swansea dipping unless they re-invest some of that Bony money.

The 'We hate Villa more than you' stuff doesn't come across quite as matey when you say it to someones face. Especially as it is the biggest insult you can give a nose.
