Pulis and Sherwood the hot favourites in the early betting. Pulis would do a good job there but their deluded fans would not want a man who doesn't play the wonderful football they have played throughout their history.

Sorry, I should clarify I was talking about the Albion job. Obviously two sets of deluded stripeys will now be compegting to get Pep Guardiola as their next manager.

I wonder how much Newcastle are having to pay Palace to take him off their hands?

Quote
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been given permission to talk to Crystal Palace about taking over at Selhurst Park.
The two clubs have agreed compensation for Pardew to succeed Neil Warnock, who was sacked on Saturday.

The only reason I can see for Pardew's move is a move back down South. As Newcastle manager he clearly had to operate under conditions a lot of managers would not be happy with but surely the Pulis situation shows things are no better at Palace. Similar conditions at a smaller club.
I think it's pretty well-known that at Newcastle has a contract that is massively dependent on bonuses. I read one report that said that his basic salary was £25,000 per YEAR, and something that work out similar to a hundred grand for every place higher up the league they finished. So effectively £25,000 if they finish bottom, £1.5m or so if they finish in the top eight.

If Crystal Palace are giving him £3m per year, then that's nothing like the same conditions in terms of his bank balance. Plus it's the club where he spent the largest chunk of his playing career, round the corner from where he and his family are from.

Makes sense for all parties I reckon.

If you were the most hated man on Tyneside and you stood to get a massive signing on fee to return to your roots with your family you'd jump at it.  For all that I don't like pardew I think some of those deluded morons should be careful what they wish for.

Pardew is one of those people whose smug demeanour make me want to kill them with an axe, but I would say he is a very competent manager. The Geordie Army's dislike of all things cockerknee is undesrtandable when you consider that they have had the likes of that ***** Wise thrust upon them, but when you let your heart rule your head, you will generally live to rue the day.

Anyone see Sterling's act of petulance late on in the Liverpool game? Very similar to Benteke's and didn't even get a card.

He literally had to reach over the linesman to deliver the slap. I find it incredible that the linesman didn't see it. Let's see if he gets charged, my money is on no action being taken.

I can't believe Sterling didn't walk for that. Not even a booking is a joke. I can only think that the questionable amount of contact and the little bloke against bigger bloke scenario helped his cause. But didn't Lee Hendrie get sent off for us against Man City a few years back just for doing a head butt gesture that made no contact whatsoever with his opponent and was also questionable as to whether he even meant to make contact?

That's what is most frustrating about some of our sendings offs this season. Maybe Richardson aside there have been numerous incidents across the league where the offence has been worse with little or no action taken. The Sterling incident is nuts to have not been punished considering Benteke's was a straight red. Not saying Benteke wasn't in the wrong but it wasn't remotely close to the Sterling incident. We've been unlucky this season with reds as much as we have been stupid to put ourselves in those positions to get them.

Joker refereeing at it's best, blatant red. Hopefully the FA takes action and bans him.

In isolation, it's the right decision, as it's a bit of a nothing incident with two grown men looking like moody school children. But in the wider context of what players, specifically ours, are being sent off for, he should have gone. There is that consistency word again.
