I always think Shelvey looks like a man who's won a competition to play in a Premier League match.  He plays like I would if anyone ever let me loose on the hallowed Villa Park turf: like a ridiculously excited schoolboy, twisting and turning, trying flicks and rabonas and overhead kicks at completely inappropriate times, shooting on sight from fifty yards, and generally doing everything at a hundred miles an hour with a massive rush of blood to the head.  I'd be absolutely shit. 

(Actually, didn't Shelvey gift Liverpool a couple of goals last season too? He's played quite well for them since he left).

The only reason I can see for Pardew's move is a move back down South. As Newcastle manager he clearly had to operate under conditions a lot of managers would not be happy with but surely the Pulis situation shows things are no better at Palace. Similar conditions at a smaller club.
