Only just noticed this.

Even the Tarquin's protests are bourgeois middle-class.
Typical!

Any decent fan of "the football" would have hurled solids...a slightly underset quiche or a splurge of ripe, runny brie.

Not great for City to be losing to a team with 10 men. A team that had already guaranteed winning the group.

On 5Live: Alan Green's comments because Bayern fans and the Citeh fans adjacent to them are standing: "Most football supporters stand at games these days." Really?
And a snidy, remark about the moves for safe-standing, implying how irresponsible it is "even after Hillsborough".

The tragedy of Hillsborough wasn't caused by fans standing Mr Green, which you'd know if you had read/listened to any of the reports regarding it. They were very public, very loud and very clear.

How ill-informed can an "experienced" commentator/expert be?

Did I really just hear the commentator say that City were deservedly ahead?  Until they scored after 20 minutes they'd barely had a touch of the ball, and after that did not threaten the Bayern goal despite playing against 10 men.

I think the problem with City is that having been able to buy pretty much instinct success in the Premier League they have none of the experience, backbone and extra quality that's needed to cut it against the teams from Germany and Spain (and elsewhere in Europe) that are far better than what they are used to playing in the Premier League.

I think CiŁy represent pretty much everything I detest about football. Stealing villas best players , paying wages of Ł300k + a week , a glossy new 50,000 identikit stadium , Gary Cook, a stadium named after a foreign airline . Just gross .

I think this is spot on. Complete reality check for them. Shame isn't it?....

Mr Green was asked to examine the safe standing roadshow at Villa Park. He said "I was at Hillsborough" and walked away ignoring everything else.

There also the problem that refs aren't intimidated by them against European giants and they don't get some of the decisions they do at home. Gary Cahill picked up on this In an interview the other week for Chelsea, they asked him the biggest different between playing in the Premier League and Champions League and he basically said he gets less decisions.
