Quote from: silhillvilla on November 14, 2014, 09:28:36 AMIs there a wider plan with Gibraltar I wonder where British players who will never play for England , Scotland etc let's use Alex Bruce as an example could perhaps qualify somehow to play for Gib? He wouldn't get a game for them, his dad isn't the Manager of the Gibraltar national team.

With there now being so many countries in UEFA, there should be a second tier for Gibraltar, San Marino etc. While the main 2016 Euro Qualifiers are going on, they have their own group(s), the winners of which are entitled to take part in the main qualifiers for the next tournament (ie 2018 World Cup). The worst performing team in the main qualifiers is dropped down to the second tier.

Gibraltar players might get some nice souvenirs but that's irrelevant really. I'm pretty sure ourselves and South America are the only regions without some sort of pre - qualifying and they only have a dozen teams. The system as it is produces too many meaningless games.

San Marino might not be a particularly big name but x million people will still want to watch Ingerlund on TV, and in terms of expense versus advertising income international football is about as good as it gets.
Scotland v Eire should be a tasty one tonight, hoping the scots smash them to be honest.
Hope Ireland do well. I am sure MON will have them well prepared.
