I went behind enemy lines last night to scout Tottenham. My detailed report to Lambert is that we're f'cked.

 The Sissokho we turned down?

I think he is going to be a really top player, i don't care if he wanted £70/80 k a week, he will be worth £20/30 m in a couple of years time and we should have bought him.

He looked great at Toulouse, but he's not done anything at Newcastle in the last couple of years that suggests that we missed on something spectacular. Even if he did score a nice goal last night.

I think Sissoko is a pretty good player, not sure about 80K a week though.

Mind you, Albrighton is apparently on 40K a week now....

The talk was that it was £90k/year for 5 years. We could possibly do that kind of business for a top-class, known quantity now (though probably not attract them) but at the time it was for an unproven player at a time when we had to address the financial mess that we had been left in. As Dave said, he's shown a couple of glimpses of quality since he joined but he's miles away from justifying what Newcastle had to pay to get him.

Well I'd have definitely taken him for that.

So this Sissokho wasn't that brilliant a couple of weeks ago when they were bottom of the table.

He started off pretty well, last season didn't appear to kick-on but maybe now he will with the confidence built-up by the Barcodes with their three wins in a row.

He'd also have walked into our team easily in the last 3 years.

Sissoko has been massively underwhelming for Newcastle pretty much since he got there.

He certainly hasn't shown a single thing to suggest he will be worth that sort of money.

Yes, but that is true of lots of players - we still shouldn't be throwing £80k per week at them for five years though.

Yeah aside from an inital burst when he first joined he dosen't stand up that much when I see them. Surprised he regularly starts for France with all their quality in midfield.

Diame at Hull is the type of midfield player we lack, big, strong and contributes goals.

Wolves' fans didn't look happy with the Noses after that minute silence.
